Will be in Pattaya at end of Oct. and have made a reservation for 3 days. I

decided I want to walk around when I am there

and look at places before booking the rest of

my trip. Will be looking at needing to book Oct 28-Nov 11. Will

that be possible as I know this is going in to high season? Or should

I book my hotel now? I figure with the way the world economy is right

now that maybe High Season won't be as busy as usual and rooms won't

be so hard to come by......

What your doing is good, just book for a few nights and look around.

Have a list done ie; how much you want to spend, facilities you want, location etc, you can do lots of searching on the net. A couple of days and you'll find what you want.

I used to freak out and book in somewhere, but now I do what your planning.

LOS/Pattaya there are 3 Hotels on every corner.

Thanks for the reply BigDan.

Never been to Thailand in "high season" except for once. And then

I just book an apt for 3 months. Just want to make sure don't

get left out in the cold at most of the good places cause I didn't book.

As previous poster mentioned, apart from Xmas, New Year and songkran you will be fine. And even then I don't think it would be to much of a hassle. Infact with the current economic climate I would hazard a guess you may even find a few bargains as you will be ready to fill a room that would otherwise not generate any money for the hotel/Guesthouse. From what I am hearing and how it was in March when I was last there the number of tourists are way down.

A few hotels you may struggle e.g. Metro Apartments, etc as they tend to get booked up in advanced but there must be hundreds if not thousands of hotels and not alot of Farangs spending money. Going a little further afield..say Jomtien and you could even bag a suite for the price of a standard room in patts itself by negotiating a walk in rate...

You will alsways be able to find a room...hell...I have found a room at 3am before when I had a teelak in my hotel room and a ST to entertain.. :-)

Was there last year in November and there was no shortage of rooms. Its really not an issue.

Thanks for everyones reply and advice. I have talked to a few friends who are there and

they are basically saying Pattaya is like a ghost town right now... On one hand

I hate to see what that does to the bar owners but on the other hand I think

good more fun for me..
