Hi,

 

First off, I did a search of the forum and the results are mostly a few years old at least.

 

I have booked a two bed-roomed apartment Deluxe Tower B for three days at the end of March. I am travelling with my Thai wife and 13 year old step-daughter. Got a rate of 3300 baht per night through Agoda, which I thought was okay for Bangkok.

 

Has anybody stayed here recently, there are reviews on Agoda which are mostly positive. Just thought I would ask any boardies for any personal experiences.

I've stayed there a couple of times a month for the last four years or so and, for me, it's one of the best value hotels in the lower Sukhumvit area.

 

The only negative is the location on Suk 16 but they have a tuk-tuk service that drops you off at either Exchange Tower at Asoke, with direct bridge access to Asoke skytrain station (or Sukhumvit subway station), or Emporium, with direct access to Phrom Phong station.

 

The difference between the two towers is that Tower A has been recently refurbished (it was several years older than tower B ), however, I prefer the rooms/furnishings in Tower B. All the facilities are accessible for residents of both towers.

 

There is a Foodland 100m away and I normally stock up my fridge from there when I arrive.

 

I've got a ton of pics of the place that I'll add when I get home tomorrow.

How far down soi 16 are the apartments approximately ? Will look out for the Foodland store.

Hi Sam,

 

I would guess around 200-250m down the soi. I won't get home until Thu now, but will include a snap from google earth with a measured route marked on it. You should be aware that access to the soi isn't directly from Sukhumvit, but from Ratatchadipsek (the top end of the soi disappeard when they widened the road to create Asoke junction). I'll show it clearly on the map.

I have also stayed there a few times, usually getting the best rates on www.ratestogo.com and with a minimum of a 3 day stay. What I like is the in room washer / drier as you can do some laundry and thus keep down how many clothes you are carrying around. Unless you are next to a laundry, I find it a chore in Bangkok and I hate the hotels 5000% surcharge for them doing your laundry !

 

Tom put me onto it a couple of years ago and I like it as a change to my other regular on Soi 2. There is a little mini mart on site open reasonably late which has emergency and snack things but as Tom says, Foodland is just down the road. Taxis don't know where it is but it is easy to direct them or get a few cards from the hotel. Getting to Sukhumvit is easy and doesn't take that long to walk.

 

I find it a good place to stay and breakfast is fairly good. Lots of long term residents it seems, such as people living there. Card entry system of course and no crap from security. 2 pools though one was closed last time I was there. Room service is ok but not magical. I'd buy some microwave food and bang it in the freezer if staying for some time as an emergency back up. Easy to get at Foodland.

 

I tend to look at the rates whenever I go to Bangkok and maybe choose this hotel 1 in 3, though I would have no problem raising that if I didn't get such a good deal elsewhere. If you don't want to be on Soi 4, then this is a great alternative at a very good price.

Spent three nights there at the end of March and was highly impressed with the place. Not sure if they are girl friendly or not as was there with my Thai wife and stepdaughter.

 

I thought the location was great Tom, no problems getting to or from the apartments.

Sorry, Sam - I forgot the pics when I got home.

 

They are very guest friendly - even provide extra towels/pillows if you're having a team in.
