The Nanny Welfare State has passed it's used by date and will soon join Communism in humanity's garbage bin of naive, failed social engineering experiments.

Don't forget to smile each week when you so generously hand over 50% of your wages so the freeloading welfare sponges can piss it up against the wall, inject it into their arms or gamble it away.

Ps Is their any lower response to an accurate post than nit picking the spelling or grammar?

The 'nanny welfare state' in which I was educated taught me the correct use of English and English grammar and I find it offensive that so-called native speakers can butcher the language so skilfully.

How is your post accurate? It is simply your opinion, and from your last few posts it is clear that you have some sort of strange obsession with how the west is run. Up to you, obviously you are living in Thailand now, a third world country where life is cheaper than a bowl of rice, but you're happy, so stop whinging about the life you left behind and contribute something positive.

Baan Worachan appartments on the ringroad,

http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/baan...sor-t14426.html

Their website is down but this is their entry on Udon Map. Best to book because they are very popular with Thai business men.Not much English spoken, get a Thai to book for you. The rooms are enormous, spotlessly clean, nice bathroom.

I use Lek car rentals: http://www.lekcarrentaludonthani.com/

They may be a wee bit dearer than other places but they have the guaranteed insurance and will deliver the car to you when and where you want.

Hope that all helps.

I'll be in Udon the first 2 weeks of Feb.

Cheers

Just checked on that link they have an email addy, if no Thai spoken maybe a good way to go.

P

Having said all of that, if you are not good with Udon Thani, staying at The Irish Clock is a good bet, it's in the centre of town, nice pub and by all acounts great rooms.

http://www.irishclock.com/rooms.html

Dearer there at 850 B/night.

Thanks for that,we will be there in may

Being from the US I haven't really seen much of a down turn in my exchange rate. My first trip to LOS three years ago saw an exchange rate of 33 baht to the US dollar. My last trip (just returned home about a week ago) had the dollar going for 29.5 baht. A slight drop of about 4 baht to the dollar. A pittance as far as I am concerned.

I still came in under budget on this last trip, and I didn't skimp. I had a good time, bought lots of clothing, toys and such and enjoyed myself.

You are indeed fortunate that you can consider the devaluation of your money by 12% a pittance.

Would you be so flippant about a 12% reduction in your US salary as that might help the country recover?

As you have such an uncontrollable obsession with me, my painfully accurate and truthful posts and "English and English grammar" I will give you a free lesson.

"West" is a proper noun, as are all points of the compass, it should be capitalized.

For a non-obsessive person like me the message is more important than the packaging so I don't suffer typo-rage.

Try having an asprin and a lie down.

For a quite-obsessive person like me I have to say 'west' can also be an adjective and adverb and sometimes is not capitalized, for example..

westerly wind

the window faces west.....

Bush Pig, unfortunately I saw your post as a quote.

West is not a proper noun. Try reading "The Style Manual for Editors, Authors and Proofreaders", it will tell you that you are wrong.

When I first started coming to LOS the exchange rate was around 45 Baht to $1USD. One of my trips to OZ, I received almost $2AUD to $1USD and in NZ I received somewhere around $2.40NZ to $1USD. How the worm has turned. :chogdee
