Asiana JFK to ICN First Class

Recommended Posts

I was lucky enough (I hope) to get an awards first class flight on Asiana, JFK - ICN.

Does anyone know for sure if they are flying the 777 200er v5 with the first class suites? I was really looking forward to that but I have read some reports that after the crash they shuffled aircraft around and downgraded the aircraft in use to 777 200er v4.

Sadly it is only outbound, my return ticket is ANA plain-jane old school business class seats :( lol

Also, any first hand reviews would be interesting.

Wow! You had me scared, as I'm booked on that route in first-class in five days. But what I can gather from the Internet, Asiana is still using the "enclosed suite" version of the 777 200ER on the JFK-ICN route. Here's part of a recent report:

You can read the full report here.

Got a problem with my cell phone, but plan on getting it straightened out this afternoon. I'll call Asiana to check for sure. Not much I can do at this late date in case they say "no first-class suites," but at least I won't be disappointed as I board the aircraft.

I called Asiana and they still have the first-class suites on the JFK-ICN route. :thumbup

How will I ever go back to cattle class?

It won't be easy!

Evil, I think you got lucky. I know I didn't. Asiana is using the Boing 777-300 for it's JFK to ICN flights. I used miles for first class and now the plane doesn't even have a first class cabin... WTF? True odds of me getting any sort of retribution?

Asiana codes the flight as 77W, which shows up as a 777-300ER on the Websites of other airlines (see the screenshot in post #2). It's actually a 777-200ER. But you can call Asiana to confirm, that's what I did. As far as I know, Asiana is still offering first-class suites on the JFK-ICN route. I am booked to fly JFK-ICN in March, again in first class.

Here's the info I got from United about the flight. As you can see, it lists the aircraft as 777-300ER, but it was a 777-200ER. It's just a computer coding error.

I'm sure you'll be able to enjoy the Asiana First Class suite. I know I did.

Evil, you are correct. I called them and they assured me I was gonna have a suite. :)

Star alliance seems to have done a bang up job of improving their awards booking since the last time I was able to book a "free" ticket. They even let me change my flight to a multi stop so I could fly into Manila from Seoul.
