Hotel reservation-Cancellation Policy

Recommended Posts

I  usually use hotels by walking in.

This time I reserved hotels through agents in  internet.

Here I write because I think they require too much to me.

I want to hear  some comments about these.

1,  Asia Travel

They require cancellation of  5 days in advance, if late I must pay 1 night  charge.

Several years before, to avoid the cancellation penalty only 1 day advance is  required.  Since when they set up such an severe penalty policy ?

Do you accept this policy ?

2,  siam.net reservation (or Diethelm or  Asia Hotel network Reservation Center, they are same but use 3 defferent names)  wants much more.

I  can not understand what they wrote about Cancellation Policy.

Cancellation Policy :Cancellation/modification must be advised before ....17/04/03....to avoid late cancellation penalty from the hotel. Cancellation/modification made on or after this due date is subject to 1 night charge for each room. Non Refundable for No Show. Any cancellation is subject to 10%Plus 15 USD of credit card processing fee and Admin fee respectively which will deduct from the refund.

....17/04/03.... what does this date mean ?

respectively ?,  Does this mean 15$ credit card processing fee  + 15$ Admin fee + 10% of some amount ?

Their reply to my question is;

I  reserved a room, 2 nights total  50US$(=25$*2nights).   They require 40 US$( 80%  of total room charge, not one night) if I cancel later than 10 days before my stay.

Don't ask me how to calculate.

In last November I stayed,  the room charge was about 1300B, so 25 US$ is very cheap. But, I  think they enforce our cost too much !!

I refuse to set these deals up.  When they ask for them I tell them NO!  I ask them to reserve my room anyway.  50% of the time they do it and the rest they do not.  I then go directly to the hotel involved and deal with them. There are too many empty rooms for the hotels not to back down.

I find it much easier to deal directly with the hotel via email.  If they ask/demand deposit and/or credit card info - I refuse and find another.  Most confirm via email with no deposit required.  And, of course, I re-confirm just prior to departure.
