Any comments about the Grace Hotel in Bangkok?

 

There is nothing mentioned about it under Hotel reviews.

Grace hotel is less then a 5 minute walk to Nana. Across the street from a great bar, called the Bamboo Bar ;D ;D. Modern hotel with a very late night coffee bar where many B/G go after 2AM. I was there once, I didn't care for it but many guys like it. I thought Nana Hotel parking lot at 2AM was better. Lots of Arab guys stay at the hotel.    12 days ;D ;D ;D

Can't comment on the hotel as far as a place to stay, but do believe there are better choices such as the Dynasty.  This is, however, the place to go after 2am.  The selection of freelancers is incredible.  Don't let the Arabs scare you off, they are not a problem.  Great place and alot of sanuk to be had.

The Grace Hotel in Bangkok is and has been for many many years an arab hotel. Guests are almost 100% arab. There is even a shisha lounge where they sit around smoking shisha ( hubbly bubbly pipes ).

Hence no reviews on this board!

 

Girls frequenting the coffee shop belong to the minority of Thai BGs that go with them. Nuff said

I've stayed here lots of times. No problem with the Arabs who keep themselves to themselves. I make a point of talking to the ones who can speak English when I get in the lift. They're all there for sanuk. Israelis stay there too. Few farangs.

 

The desk girls are efficient although I find the Arabs annoying with their constant barging in when you're speaking to someone. You can store luggage there long term.

 

The rooms are okay but showing their age (I  stay in the 1080B rooms). As a Falang you'll be put on the floor which is bothered by lift noise (unless there's rooms elsewhere).

 

The Woraburi is better value but I had problems with the desk girls so I might stick to the Grace.

I agree with what most other have posted here. I don't think it is a place to stay, but I do make it a place (coffee shop) to stop on my first night in BKK. I always get in on the very late Northwest flight. By the time I get checked in and cleaned up, it is about the place I can go and look for my 'new best friend' on my first night in the LOS.

 

I stay at  the Grand Inn, just a few meters down Soi 3 from the Grace, so it makes it easy for me for a late night stop.

 

BigDUSA, you are right on the spot about the Bamboo. I like to go in there, almost every day when I'm in Bangkok, since I stay almost across the street. It a good place to relax for a beer in the afternoon, or even take a GF in to play pool or have a drink before moving on.

I like to think of the Bamboo Bar as I do my local back in Philadelphia, friendly, low hassle bar with pool tables. A fair number of freelancers pass thru.  ;D ;D ;D
