Some Nice Places Ive Eaten At Recently

Recommended Posts

I have no interest in any of the businesses below and the proprietors are no more the nodding acquaintances

Pakbungloyfah
This was a direct recommendation from Evil Penevil via one of his excellent reports. It’s a Thai food restaurant on second Road, a 2 minute walk northwards from the South Pattaya Road junction. Pakbungloyfah serves really nice Thai food at a reasonable price. The menu is expansive and is suited to all tastes. I usually ordered the fried rice with crab as a side dish along with either an omelette or fried squid or fried belly pork; to be honest everything I had here was really nice. I usually ate here post midnight after drinking in the bars on Walking Street. It was never very full and I was almost always the only farang. A great call from Evil

Irish Wolfhound
This is a bar/restaurant is on Soi 4 Pratamnak. I visited Pratamnak numerous times on my latest trip as I had a mate from Leeds staying at his condo at Star Beach. We played golf (well, pitch and put) at Asia Pattaya about 2 or 3 times a week and then used the beach at Cabbages and Condoms for an hour or 2. It was a nice change to get out of Pattaya City and breathe a bit of reasonably clean air. The Wolfhound serves a Full Monty type breakfast (coffee/ tea/refill include) at 100baht which was as good as any I’ve had here. The mixed grill is absolutely superb comprising of bacon, sausage, pork steak, melt in the mouth fried liver, egg, chips and peas. It really is one of the best farang dishes I’ve had in Thailand and costs 160baht. Pratamnak is 80 baht on a bike taxi from Soi Diana or 2 baht buses. It really is worth it though, a pleasant location and top notch food.

Golf Club
I’ve mentioned this place before. It’s far too small and only as 4 rickety tables and you sometimes have loud mouthed cigar -chomping golfers sitting 1 to a table (they are in Pattaya only for the golf you know. Yeah right). The food however is excellent; I love the ‘Wentworth’ full breakfast as well as some of the American style sandwiches like pastrami on rye. If it’s full I normally go to the Metro bar and the girls there will order the food for you and have it delivered. I never had a bad meal at this place

Everyday is Fryday
I would firstly like to say I have never been a big fan of fish and chips in Pattaya. I always thought that the ill-fated Jolly Friar and Gooses were poor and the Pig and Whistle only reasonable. Ideally, for really good fish and chips I would go to Whitby or Scarborough not South East Asia. However, fish and chips here are pretty good indeed (99 baht) but what I would certainly recommend are some of the other items on the menu. He does excellent sausage chips and peas, cottage pie and steak and kidney pies. The chips are crisp and never soggy and everything seems to be of a really good standard. The menu is a bit Northern so might not suit everybody but the food is quite superb.
