Anyone got views on Flipper Lodge versus Penthouse ??? will be there in Aug , 4 nites want to be :

 

safe

Comfortable

able to bring back lots of guests

very close to nite life

 

Any views ???

Haven't stayed at neither, but the Flipper will be close to the beer bars and the Penthouse close to the go-gos.  Have you read the reviews posted by other board members under the hotel section?

I was in Flipper lodge hotel ( soi 8 ) last summer about two months. There is a lot of bars and one go-go bar in that soi. The rooms are different depends on situation. Take the room in the wing near by beach road, there are better. It is guest friendly hotel ( no guest fee ) but I had only one girl at the time when I went back so I do not know if you want to take many girls but I think there is no broblem. The staff are very friendly. The best part of that hotel is nice pool on the roof with beautiful view over the Pattaya. Price is about 700 baht/night. Highly recommended.

Haven't been to Penthouse, but from some of the reviews of this place it seems that your money would be better spent at other hotels.  Been going to Flipper for the past few years now--very accomodating staff, never had problems with bringing back guests.  They will ask the girl to register at the guard's desk near the elevator.  Once a girl I brought up didn't have her ID card, but the guard just asked me to sign the register.  They also call your room when the girl leaves to make sure everything was ok.  As far as its proximity to the night life, its surrounded by beer bars and a stones throw away from beach road where you can catch a baht bus to Pattayaland/Walking Street where all the go-go's are.

I believe the Penthouse is having problems right now due to a issue with Cats-A-Go-Go, which is downstairs and run by the same folks... I am not too sure who is running the Penthouse right now.

 

The Penthouse is a lot of fun to be in for a night or two...  Some of the rooms have bathtub jacuzzis, sex swings, and balconies over looking Soi Pattayaland...  They are pricey at about $50 a night...  Its not my recommendation for the long haul, rooms are just too small and dark and like I said, too much money.  They are great to have a party in...

 

It depends, you will probably do better staying at the Flipper and then cruising down to the Penthouse to check the place out since they are having issues.
