Any recommendations for a  reliable agent with good deals locally?

Try "ALL SEASONS TRAVEL" in Pattaya Tai, opposite Friendship Supermarket. I travel every month with my job, used them for a couple of years, together with my colleagues. Always full of "farangs" and they have a good command of English.....trust me, they're good.

What sort of prices are you paying?

At TIC they quoted me 1000 baht less than EVERY Bkk agent I called and as little as 2000 baht less than some Pattaya agents for my favourite airline.

Mind you, I tend to buy 1 year tickets.

It is difficult to reply with a comparison, as there are so many factors involved, time of year, destination, flight times etc.

A perfect example of what a good agency can do for you is an arrangement I have just been organising with an agent of many years in UK. This was for my sister to come and visit at Xmas and I paste the agents reply :-

 

I have looked at the flights for Elaine and Malcolm and have held a couple of seats on the flights you requested.

Just by changing by a few hours has saved them 89 pounds each!!!!

 

The same goes for All Seasons Travel, they also give you cheaper options to maybe the one you have requested, too many agents just go on specific requests.

 

For a comparison you would be better ringing Amie or Rueng and getting a quote against what you were given by TIC. Then again, it is not just about price sometimes, reliabilty is also extremely important and was part of Mike100's request.

What's your sister doing hanging around in Dubai for so long?  :)

 

It's true, my only experience with TIC Travel was that she offered me by far the best price for the airline that I wanted and the ticket was ready when it was supposed to be.

 

In fact, I think the ticket was sourced from the second agency, KN, that I've posted.

 

Another agency, Malee Travel, next to the Universe Gym, quoted me 2000 baht more, for the same ticket. He wasn't even willing to budge from that price.

I don't care how good his service was going to be, it wasn't worth that much more.  

 

I'm quite happy to stick with TIC for the moment, as she immediately gave me the best price and did what she said she would do.

In the end I booked with All Seasons Travel.

29,500 baht return BKK to LHR, Thai Airways direct, (mid July.) Amie also thought she could get me an extra 10 kilo of luggage on the return trip. Found her very, very helpful. She made the reservation and said to pay her when convenient.

 

I tried TIC first, but found there was a communication problem, also they didn’t reply to my emails.

Probably my fault as I abbreviated  as BKK and LHR  and tried to ask about the possibility of extra luggage on the return trip.  I went to the office the next day and she said she received my mails but did not understand them, but she didn’t think to reply asking me to explain. Must admit that both my Thai wife and I did not find her helpful. Maybe she was just having a bad day, we all have those from time to time.  :)

I wouldnt touch that place, i know the bird that works there. Lets just say shes not just lose with herself but also with dollars. Very long story, a few of you met her from here when i was over for most of last year and b4. She got a dodgy scam going on with the taxis amongst from bringing the bar into the office. Been going over for 16 yrs and to be honest i couldnt believe it.
