Does anyone have info on the round trip fare from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok?

I'm heading to a family bun-fight in Perth, Aussie, in May and have been offer £438 return on Malaysian, includidng a free internal inside Malaysia including Singapore. Well, KL ain't as much fun as Pattaya so I would like to spend some time in our favourite women, oops, favourite town.  Just to break the journey, you understand.

If the KUL-BKK fare is reasonable I might take up Malaysian's offer.

Any advice on KL travel agents would be useful too.

Hi BJ,

Thanks for that one, but I have been considering stopping off in BOTH directions, and sandwiching the Perth visit between 2 bouts of lunacy by the sea ;D

So, with that in mind, the train trip looks like a possible interesting way to get to LOS, it also leaves more funds for other diversions :o [smiley=3some.gif]

There are a few options available to you to save the long train trip to Bkk.

www.airasia.com    Head for Had Yai instead? Cheaper to get to.

Fly to Alor Setar from KL for as little as £8, then take the much shortened  bus or train ride to Hat Yai. Alternatively, fly to Langkawi for the same price. You can take a ferry to Satun, Thailand and then take a short bus ride from there.

Hey Valentino,

Now you're putting ideas into my head.

I enjoy travelling around "off the tourist track" and exploring on my own. (Borneo was great fun)  Travel guides are for those of a nervous disposition.

Now to investigate this even further, it does look interesting, even if my mates in the pub at home think I'm mad. (they think a package to Benidorm is adventurous)

Let me know how it goes, Doug.

I did the Langkawi -Satun -Had Yai route after having an island holiday on Langkawi. I was lucky enough to meet a nice Swedish couple who had rented a jeep who gave me a lift from Satun to Had Yai.

You mention you can have a flight to Singapore, it is cheaper to fly BKK-SIN than BKK-KUL. On a recent visa run I paid 8400 Bt with SQ for a 3day/2night excursion including ticket and transfer to Hotel in Singapore. I admit I did it in the reverse direction to what you want but I'm sure you would be able to get something similar . Buy the ticket locally you'll get a better deal.
