Changing Flights

Recommended Posts

Have booked a flight on Emirates, Man - Dubai - Bangkok in May via Dial a Flight. com

Unfortunately i am now unable to travel on the booked dates, i know Dial a Flight have a no refund policy, do not have a problem with that as such as i would like to change my flights to October, is this possible or not, it is only acceptable under special circumstances or a total no-no.

Any advice / previous experience welcomed.

Thanks,

jbds.

Not sure if you can change it . If you have travel insurance you may be able to claim the price of your ticket off it . If that isn't possible another alternative would be to sell the ticket to someone else , provided you can change the name on the ticket at a reasonable cost . I would ring Dial-a-flight's customer services & find out what they can do , ie change flight dates or name on ticket .

jbds,

The rules relating to cancellation/amendment charges depend on whether you bought "flight only" or whether it was part of a package.

If it was flight only, dial-a-flight only acts as an agent and the airline's rules will apply.  In the case of Emirates flights can generally be changed prior to the date of travel for a fee (typically £50-£75) depending on the class of ticket that you originally purchased.  The ability to change dates assumes there is availability in the same class (price) of the original ticket on your amended dates.  In addition to the £50-£75 dial-a-flight will likely charge you an administration fee for processing the amendment.

If the flight was part of a package then dial-a-flight's terms and conditions will apply.  They are required to be shown on the company's website.  These terms and conditions are subject to the Package Tour Regulations which done away with some of the more dubious practices of travel agents selling packages (such as the right to transfer tickets etc).

As baz said, get in touch with the customer services people and they should put you right without any great dramas.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Tom

Thanks for all your replies,

Contacted Dialaflight and was told i would have to cancel original booking and re-book. Was told the

airlines fee would probably be 50%, turned out to be

somewhat more, total flight cost £519, cancellation fee

£300.

Had little choice but to cancel, lesson learned though,

not to book/pay to far in advance and find out any penalty fees before booking.
