I had periodontal surgery at Pattaya International Hospital. The oral surgeon was competent, but he wasn't very concerned about pain (mine).

A few years earlier, I had it done at Bumrungrad, and I had to specifically request Nitrous Oxide to help get through the procedure. There was a delay while they rustled up a canister...clearly, it was not a normal anesthetic.

Had it done in the USA a few years before, and they had me high as a kite and I found it to be much more pleasant. Thai medicine is not big on pain relief.

The periodontist that my dentist recommended said that everything is done with a local anesthetic. No gas as a general rule. The good news is that recovery time is supposed to be quite quick.

Did you have a different quadrant done each time?

Local clinics are okay but for major treatments such as dental implants or similar, I recommend that you go to Thantakit Dental in Bangkok. I had a great experience with them. They are quite popular in the field of dental implants and dental holidays and most of their dentists were trained abroad.
