For anyone that doesnt know and for newbies to buying long haul flights.

When youve worked out roughly when you want to go, go online to Google and check when the school Half Term and end of Term Holidays are.

Fares will go up substantially at these times, in some cases as much as £100. You can also save a lot of money by moving your dates outside of the school holiday times by just a day or two. I know if you have fixed dates it can be a problem but in school holiday times prices will fluctuate upwards as airlines try and grab as much money as they can. In my wifes case, who has just returned, Booking a TG flight on the dates she wanted would have cost over £600, we moved the dates along by one week and eventually paid £540, simply because her original outbound date was in the School Holiday.

Now this is my opinion only, but I would beware of flying on any Arab airline for the foreseeable future due to the problems over there with firstly Qatar and then more importantly the prospect of imminent war between Saudi and Iran.

Yep, School holidays and blatant profiteering by the Airlines. I paid a few hundred quid more last summer to go to the USA as it was the holidays.

I think that it's not just Saudi and Iran, without wanting to threadfuck and turn this into a political yarn, I think the whole Middle East is getting very unsettled indeed with the exceptions of Dubai and Oman.
