Thai Orange SIM card

Does anyone know how long a vaild Orange 'Just talk' pay-as-you-go SIM will stay operational without being used?

 

I normally purchase a SIM card when I arrive in TH. However my mate is coming back to the UK at the end of December and he says I can have his SIM (with some credit left).

 

I shall not be in TH until February,so will the SIM still be operational?

 

This would be useful as I can let friends know what my number is before I leave the UK,thus saving me loads of money texting them with the number when I get there.!

 

Does anyone know what I'm going on about?   ???

I've just received a brand new and boxed SIM,so I just need to active it when I land in LOS.
