As you are talking about Residence Garden. have read a bit about the place and it seems ok, been to Pattaya many times and never really seem to find a good hotel - ok could live at one of the big 5-stars, but then the problem is with GF entry and I dont want that hassle.

Will land next week and have booked Residence. Please tell me I havent made a mistake!

Now should be lowseason in P - how quiet is it?

BigSwede, I've stayed at the RG a lot, and will be back there again in May for about 6 weeks. I think you'll like it very much. Maybe get up from the ground floor and away from the pool for better privacy, unless you like sitting on the balcony and having the swimmers and foot traffic seeing you. If something bothers you about your stay and it's fixable, just mention it to the staff and they will take care of it. Also up to 9 P.M. or so, if you have a shy girl and want to avoid going by the pool and reception, walk all the way down the driveway to the stairs leading up to the elevator...later at night they lock a gate there so you can't go that way 24 hours a day. Try their restaurant once, the all-you-can eat dinner buffet. Around 300 baht, not cheap by Pattaya rates, but a good spot to get lots of barbecue, salad, baked potatoes, etc. If you need to hire a moto driver, across the street from the RG is an older guy, Samboan, who is a safe and slow driver (if he's still there, he was at the end of Dec.). Enjoy your trip.

Also, I seem to recall from my last visit to the RG in November last year, that they will arrange for you to be picked up at the airport and transported to the hotel in a luxury limo for 1,500 baht (which, as far as I can recall includes tolls).

Somebody, please remind of this before my next visit in November of this year.

Alan

I have stayed at the RG before and will again soon. They ALWAYS refer me to Thai Limo for transportation to Pattaya.

Thanks your kind reply and tips! Much appreciated. It sounds that I have not made a bad choice and I can´t wait until it´s finally time to check in there. Morning april 10 - sooooon! Right now I am more wondering how the situation will be on the 11th and days after with the thai new year coming up. Never been there during that period - maybe everything will be closed - oh nightmare!

As for transportation I think I have tried just about everything through the years. This time I think I´ll just negociate a taxi-meter from Don Muang and just squeeze my gentle 110 kg body into it, sit back and try to relax as the dear driver tries to reach warp-speed! Wrinkled and hurt when arriving to P, perhaps one can find some gentle dame to put comfort back to the said figure! ..... sigh
