  1. Not working for me on chrome, from the pages I had saved.

I noticed chromes ad block has become pretty useless on most websites.

Is firefox ok? I remember using it before, but it became very slow.

I still use Adblock with Firefox.

My Mail page takes a long time to load up first thing, (and locks things while it does so), but once there it is okay and I go play elsewhere in another Tab.

  2. July is peak season, kids off school. Everyone on summer holidays in Europe, getting away from the heat in the ME.

Always a very expensive time to book.

Also Ramadan and Eid in July.

I also heard Dubai will start construction on a new runway and are reducing flights.

Look at Qatar, new airport due to open and they may want to ramp up business.

  3. My Google Chrome got so glitchy that I had to look for another browser. I started using Comodo Dragon. It is based on Chrome and I was quite happy with it except that it has problems with a few websites. I used Firefox for those few websites. A few days ago Firefox had an update. They made a lot of changes and at this point the new Firefox is set as my default browser. It appears to be much faster than it was.

Yeah I started using the new Firefox today (29) and it is looking good.

  4. Good luck..hope that works, because the recommendation for removing the "virus" it looks like an afternoon of hair-pulling.

Yeah, I appreciate the input, but I am glad I read through to the end first!

I think the source of the pop up and communication interruption was the router, and McAfee jumped on the Flash Player Phishing download.

Obsession... I just paid a fortune to update my subscription....BIG TIP>>> Do not let McAfee automatically renew your subscription, it is $80+, when you buy new it is 1/3 of that! I may load one of the programs on MM's link as a secondary level of protection.

One learns each day...but I do not need technical challenges today after last night.

I see Silver Star 3 on WS is now a 100% coyote club under a new name!

  5. You changed routers and it's working?

That's a head scratcher for sure...I've not heard of a router borne virus.

Yeah... see the edit I did above.

This is outside my knowledge somewhat.....I just fell back on my past experience of swapping things out.

I may reset the router to Factory Condition and reload it... otherwise I have to reconfigure my Wireless printer to the new network.

(This is the second incident I have had with my Billion router, TOT supplied, recently, I wonder if using my Smart Phone on the network is behind this?)

  6. Thanks.....

But can it be resident in the router?

I have changed that and seems things are working better.

Hmm maybe.... this is at the bottom of your link!

The problem is not with your computer. The infection is on the modem side. Just rest your modem. I tried everything even formatting my computer but I still had the same problem in Firefox, IE and Chrome- Then I reset my modem and it cured it

  7. I am up late this AM.

I cannot get into my Yahoo Home Page or Yahoo Mail.

    It times out.

I also get a pop up telling me My Flash Player Needs to Be Updated.

When I tried this my Virus protection jumped in and says it has quarantined a Trojan.

None of my "enquiries'" on the internet have come up with anything.

Even when I came here I get a pop up saying 'Flash Player Needs Updating.'

It mentioned Facebook too.(Don't use it)

Happening on 2 different laptops....with different Windows OS.

    Firefox and IE

Both currently doing a full scan....virus stuff is McAfee.

    Help.....

  8.

I bet the costs do add up. I think some people underestimate the upkeep of large houses.

Why do you get away with no bars on the windows?

Firstly the area I am in is not so bad... it would be different in many areas of the darkside, and in town.

    The house is alarmed.

I have had all my house doors and windows replaced with UVPC double glazed units, and I am told the local thieves don't really know how to get around them.

(The standard brown extruded or pressed aluminium frames are not very secure, particularly the sliding windows and doors).

I do have some bars, on the maid's quarters (read my wifeys den and where I keep stuff!) it is also where I haven't replaced the windows, but a screwdriver would get them off as happened to a neighbour who was daft enough to go out without setting his alarm. It is also in full view of the house opposite. Many homes are accessed through the roof, just pushing tiles back, but mine has sprayed insulation foam there to stop that..

    Touch wood!

  9. Like it :thumbup Your property has a pool, sprinklers, walls, security lights etc. I remember, because as a landlord, I am pig sick of maintaining properties!

    Your house sounds great.

When I first moved in I did a lot myself, spent a week getting sunburned and dizzy painting my wrought iron front fencing and used to do my own gardening.

The novelty soon wears off... every job is a struggle in the heat... and waving bugs off is tiring..

(We get these tiny fruit flies this time of year you don't see in town... they love ears and nostrils!).

These days I am getting lazy and the place could do with sprucing up.

So now I pay more, and believe me it adds up each month.... and I have some big jobs well overdue but dread taking on, even if not doing them myself. Having local workmen inside your home is sometimes infuriating, they are often lazy and disrespectful of your home or time.... sometimes they bring kids and I am nervous of them drowning in my pool! Funnily enough I like doing a bit of plumbing now and again... sticking together that blue plastic pipe is easy.

I will still take on the odd repair or upgrade job, the easy ones. But painting the walls.... no thanks.

  10. A spot of rain yesterday and some expected for the next couple of days.

But to be honest a welcome break from the heat, which has been oppressive.

I felt like I was riding through a sauna on the bike yesterday which was the result of a shower hitting the hot tarmac and zapping up the humidity.

I am meeting someone at a beer bar later and hope they can be persuaded into a cooled GGB.

    Extended Forecast.
