I stopped by Hideaway for a modified version of their light American breakfast.  I traded the beans (seriously? American?) for another hash brown and the pancake which is authentic but I didnt one for another sausage.  Just what I needed after my first night in the bars.

The sausages and rashers look good, and I am sure you'd be given more butter for the toast if required but those eggs look awful with bugger all yoke to dip anything into. Of course that is a personal opinion and I wouldn't be offended if you said they were bloody delicious!

Based on how thin the concrete pad they're pouring this morning, think the Soi Love Inn and Arunotai corner is getting something more like the shops on the opposite side of the soi.

And a bit farther up Soi Love Inn more decorative metal work going up on the Nirun market.

I like what is happening around that Soi. It will be another way of joining 3rd to Arunothai with seamless shops/bars.

All it needs is people !!

Saw this in the Bangkok Post yesterday thought it quite humorous that one of the biggest Thai banking heads is telling you to live for today and not worry about tomorrow great attitude especially if you’re on your last legs and ask her for a few million bank loan she’ll be more than understanding.

Looks like the corner of Soi Love Inn and Arunotai is getting a new building.

Yeh, I went round there this morning, things are progressing well but no idea what it could be as it seems too narrow to be anything of interest. I popped into the "market shop" to the right of the picture to buy a Sato to quench my thirst but they had run out. After taking a look around I stocked up on freezer bags!

I noticed that the resort opposite Nadias shop was offering 10,000 baht a month (which I'm sure could be negotiated down). It looks  quite nice.

Today I noticed that the new drainage pipes on Pattaya Tai had all been cleaned out ready for use but then I started to think "Which way are they taking the water?" ...Has anybody seen an overall plan of the new system?

I have recently heard that Ewan Mcglashan has been appointed as the new head chef of steak & co and will be starting within the next few days, for those that don't know Ewan was the chef at Bite Me which was very popular and always had excellent reviews . I wish him all the best in his new role and hope he can achieve the same success at steak & co during these testing times.

It would be a good place to go if the whole crew from Bite Me worked there ..

This reminds me of when I took a job in the States and I went into a sandwich shop at lunchtime. The other customers behind me "standing in line"  were obviously on a short break and on a short fuse....

All travel restrictions from the UK to end in Mid June. Now its up to Mr Prayut

I still think things here are going to get worse before they get better. Let's see what happens in Myanmar over the coming month. I reckon it will be Xmas before "normal" tourists return and with another National lockdown in between.

    Miserable bastard aren't I.

Then again knowing BA they'll probably do their usual of cancelling BKK flights. In the last 10 years theyve done it to me 3 times. Twice got an easy refund but the third had to issue County Court action and they paid up PDQ

What the bastards have done to me twice at LHR is change the aircraft type. I had paid 30 quid or whatever to pre book my aisle seat selection online. Each time I ended up in a middle seat and was unable to get my money back there and then. The refund procedure was just about impossible with my travel plans but the worst thing was the flight "experience" ... Haven't used them in years for many reasons.

I'm not sure who the link flight is with but I did notice that on one of the prices is stated  "flight is operated by "Cityhopper" In April they are offering flights from Southampton to Bangkok return for £385 but I doubt we'll get out there that early

On a side note have you heard anything about the runway extension planning permissions??

    That is a fantastic price!

I no longer have contacts in the area so I'm afraid I know nothing about the extension.Sorry mate!

Just seen KLM are now offering Bangkok flights from Southampton, some nasty change times in AMS but some good ones too.

For LHR when I add up car parking, overnight hotels, petrol and the sodding about from Long Stay 2 to the airport? Southampton is looking more attractive as I can get a cheap train to the Terminal.

Is it with KLM UK or KLM?

I have a long list of horror stories with KLM UK - SOU. Perhaps things have changed so unless you ask I won't say.

I spent years arriving back and driving through the New Forest drunk from LHR or SOU.. I have been a right wanker splashing out dosh for hotel hoppers/hotel rooms/car rental/parking and taxis.

My advice? Get a National coach or look at Emirates LHR  business class because SOU is within the free taxi zone.

Another problem would be if you are flying with  a Thai wife or Girlfriend....But that is yet another story...

Out for a bike ride this morning and was thinking the haze sure looks thick this morning. AQI confirms what I was seeing. Not a healthy day to be out exercising.

I did a 3 hour walk this morning (06:30 to 09:30) and my breathing felt really good. Even the last bit, which is normally when I'm gasping for air, was OK ( Sukhumvit - Arunothai to Big C Pattaya Tai).

    Very little traffic about too.

Growing up we had many small farms called Truck Farms. Mostly vegetables. You could go in the fields and "Pick your own." All gone now to housing developments.

When my Mum died a few years ago, and on a couple of previous visits, the physical change was minimal but it took me a bit of time to realise there was no smell! Nothing !

It was as if a massive syringe had sucked all the "feeling" out of the village.

    timber working

    Fuck don't get me started!

I was the only boy in the family with six sisters. My job was to go into the forest with a bow saw and collect wood to stockpile for winter. I'd walk there and back but on the return journey carry and drag a trunk or branch over each shoulder to saw up over the weekends. Again I loved it. I think it made me a better school rugby player too!!
