So I guess a few days in Vientiane and should get the visa done by then? 6. Hi chaps, I have got to get a double entry tourist visa soon as my "non-imm 0" visa has expired and now on 30 day stamp which runs out early Oct. Went to soi buakow visa shop last week and was told that Cambodia have gone more troublesome and want extra items so Laos is best bet.But i have flt tkt home and savings book etc.. Both places are done on all inclusive mini-bus trips, with the Laos trip at 8500bt all inc. Think Cambodian trip was about 6000bt to the nearest border. Whats my best bet and other options? as not looking forward to a 10 hr minibus trip to Laos!!! Any flt deals to Laos/Cambo? Cheers 4 now, Sticky

  8. Hi chaps, Just recently moved into VT2 condo here in Jomtien, for a 3 month stay, but find the inet wifi is an expensive extra cost at 450bt card(sawasdee wifi card) for just 30 hrs!! Are there any alternatives to this as use the inet a bit and no way 30hrs is enough for a months use for me as this could end up costing me couple cards a month and at 450bt a card is exp!! Whats the option of aircard would that be an alternative?? Thanks & any suggestions welcome, Cheers 4 now, Sticky
  9. Thanks bigone think there wil be some more good deals around after songkran finishes as wil be long low season again here!! Cheers 4 now, Sticky
  10. My Pattaya/Jomtien condo search April 2011 Well chaps just quick update on my search for decent condo/apartment for under 10k p/mth here in sin city. After doing 9 mths in Pattaya stayin at a few nice places around 3rd rd area I decided was time to try and move to a quieter area to find a decent room / condo under 10k p/mth with usual facilities, cable tv, aircon, fan, secure mbike parking, swimming pool & wifi inet access. As was stayin for another 4 mths min so a condo room and not a hotel was the best bet as many rooms in noisy soi Buakow area are well over 10-15k p/mth now. Not so easy to get a room that offers all the above, yes you can get compact rooms around 3rd rd but no pool. So as never stayed in a condo wanted to try and have a look at few popular condo places that are mentioned by many expats & on the forums too. Was interested in Maxx central place, 3rd rd area as was around that 10k p/mth price range but got put off with the horror stories and posts made in the forums about the lousy service & car park flooding problems. Then had look at 9 Karat Condo, soi Arunothai area found it as good location but building & internal areas looked run down & swimming pool was green? when got there staff were too busy eating to show me around at 1st, eventually let me have look at some dingy studio rooms for 9k p/mth but were poor with old style rooms, old tv sets and no bedding or fans etc..plus they were pneumatic drilling all corridors so that was a big no-no as noise was unbearable!! So up and onwards to Jomtien!!. Saw an advert on Baht & Sold for View Talay 1 Condo room that looked good on price around 6k p/mth. Initially the buildings looked bit run down from the outside with some shops, cafes & business located on the ground floor units looking bit shabby. The room was facing Theppasit road side so was noisy and very compact 30 sq mtrs but furnished ok. The cable tv signal wasnt working too well..not a good sign..but a good value room if on tight budget with nice big pool too. Wifi inet was extra around 450bt i think, with elec/water at govt rates unlike the apartments/guest houses that charge extra on top. Then onto Jomtien Beach Condo to go and see fellow Bm Ericg that had been posting about his rooms for rent at now reduced price of 6500bt p/mth (down from 8500bt p/mths so what does this tell you about condo rentals). The room is located in the old drab buildings located at back over the new relief road in Jomtien, so that put me off initially as would be having to walk over this road to get to nice big swimming pools and shops located in the front buildings. The rooms are nicely furnished but again too compact for my liking think 30 sq mtrs again and am not a claustrophobic person!! Plus not much of a view staring at the opposite block from your balcony. Plus believe theyre re-painting these blocks at moment. Again wifi inet was extra in 3-400bt area I think. Would suit someone on tight budget though. I did like Eric & was impressed initially so much so that i said ok was best I had seen so far so put small deposit down as thought this is best of 3 I had seen so far, but had my reservations mmmmm. After mulling my decision overnight I contacted my thai est agent lady that looks after me & my friends houses( that are on the darkside) that we rent out & asked for any condos that were in my price range as wanted to get somewhere soon before Songkran madness starts!! We agreed to meet at View Talay 2 Condo to look at 37 sq mtr studio condo. I liked the buildings as looked newer & cleaner than VT1 & security was good too with not many shabby shops at ground floor.Big swimming pool at front. Good location too off the main Thappaya road bringing you at start of Jomtien & on baht bus routes. Liked the room as bit bigger than others I had seen so far & was light and airy as just been re-painted. Has 29” cable tv, dvd, nice basic kitchen with full fridge freezer, micro & elec hob with bfast bar with aircon & fan. Simply furnished in neutral colours and quiet location. Balcony bit small same as others. Negotiated price of 9k p/mth for my stay which is good deal I think as many advertising for 12k p/mth (maybe more luxuriously furnished rooms perhaps) in the downstairs offices. Govt rates for elec/water but inet is extra at 450bt for 30 hrs*!! *Need to find an alternative inet as this is an expensive service, any suggestions pls?? This wil do for Sticky for now!!

  14. When saying euro kitchen i mean its not thai style kitchen which are genreally outside according to few of my thai friends with few plastic units stuck together and gas ring for cookin quick thai style. Yes have gas hob cooker with gas bottle under in cupboard and the units are quality fitted with plenty storage space & room for table top oven if so require plus hot water heater for washing up. The kitchen/diner is extended out also as had original wall put through so giving more space with an internal door between living room & kitchen. I dont cook myself as so cheap to buy foods from nearby thai restaurants but if tenants need to cook then they have the facility to do so. Hope this answers your kitchen question? Cheers 4 now, Sticky

  16. [quote name='blink' date='May 14 2010, 06:56 AM' post='7756 Yeah like i say i am happy with my deal, The first time i stayed here was about 7 years ago & i paid 15000 including electric & water then. I always have a look around when i arrive at different condos & i did get offered one in view talay 2 for 9000 but the electric charge was 50% higher & to be honest i actually prefer VT1 out of the 2. A friend of mine also has one here that she would of rented me for 8000 but it was being rented out. A lot of the really cheap deals get taken long term by expats & It is also very basic & on a low floor & i prefer a high floor & a few more amenities in the room. I have spoken to a few expats who also rent from her including one who has his own condo but it is currently rented at a higher price & he got another one from her. None have said they have had a problem so that is reassuring. My tv signal did go down the other night & i told her & the next day a man was sent to fix it so again i was happy with the service standards in that department. She does also have a few double units available with a seperate bedroom at 1100 baht a day & im sure she will also do deals on fortnightly or long term rentals on them but for me a studio condo was more than adequate for my needs. Hi Blink thanks for the info about VT 1. Very interesting as lookin at renting long term at Vt 2 from July as good location and most rooms look ok and only need studio room but fully furnished have been offered VT2 condo at 8500bt but yet to see it but wil wen there nxt month. Have been lookin at renting condo in VT2 A or B so how do they compare with VT 1? Any more info/pics would be nice plus wil hav to contact this lady wen there too as could be good option. Cheers Sticky
  17. HI chaps, This is bit of long shot but you dont know unless u ask ok!!!??? Have had some small scars on forehead of face for years that would like to have removed if possible by some minor surgery op Has anyone any reccom for any clinic or hospital sepcialising in this in Patts area and what sort of costs will this incur roughly?? I know some western people go there for plastic surgery ie. nose/ ear jobs etc as Thailand has good surgeons (just look at the ladyboys and you see what i mean)!!!! Any help / info much appreciated Cheers Sticky
  18. Hi there Eric, Looks great place to stay and nicely furnished too!!! Is it available for short term rental as am comin to stay for 2 months in dec this year ok. If not is there some similar condos in that building available as like the location/facilities there. Cheers Sticky
  19. Hi Chaps, Just to quickly add to saftey discussion on above subject, you wil find most of the properties are on gated villages and have security guards to main entrances (wether effective or not) and there is mix of thais and farangs living in these villages. A Police box is outside Eakmongkol 4 too with daily patrols as theres lots of traffic up there now. Theres a lot of housing estates up on DS as thats where most Ex Pats live. Agreed nowhere is 100% safe but you can always read about weekly muggings/ beatings/ deaths from thais and farangs who are based nearer the 3rd/ 2nd road and beach rd part of town. Those in the know and live there most of the year, live up there and surrounding areas too. Cheers Sticky
