  2. For sure..... If you want to get your Baht from a Travel Agent 'before you go' - 66 to the £ if youre lucky! BTW for the real time rate on Nationwide Flexacount ATM withdrawals check here: http://corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_serv...er_ex_rates.jsp Just enter: My Card Is In: UK Convert To: THB Bank Fee: 0 And Convert .
  3. ??????????? My Nationwide ATM card is giving me 69.76 to the £ right now from any ATM .
  4. I would say take a long hard look at the ratio of Buying Prices to Rental Prices, then factor in the what is a great place to live NOW, can very fast become a raving headache in the LOS. And you might find being a residence butterfly is a better option. .
  5. Dont f##k about with the website - RING THEM (if poss speak to 'Chai') & remember that if you are building airmiles you need Y B M H Q T K S class in economy for 100% airmiles ( the usual discounted classes V W only accrue 50% - which none of the Opodos etc tell you!!!!!!!!) .
  6. Give WESTEAST TRAVEL a call 0870 2201001 generally have best Thai Air fares .
  7. Lots of apartments at the 7/8K p.m. price range (long term) all over town Lots of new ones around Carrefour area. .
  8. Did you get the registration book with the Red Plates each time? .
  9. EXACTLY.... No Red Plates, Copy Red Plates (with no book) Iron this out BEFORE you pony up the big Bahts If the chiseller has no plates or plates without book..... have a long think about the level of his after sales care...then go somewhere else. .
  10. You wont have the book for the ultimate plates that you will get, true. But MAKE SURE you get the book for the Red Plates (which disreputable dealers like not to give you) then you will have none of these problems. .
  11. Humph! Give me Som Tum Thai, Khow Niow, Gai Yang Noi any time over that tourist trash. Chillie whimps ...just go for Khow Tom. .
  12. @ BigDUSA beat me too it..... I was going to say 'not nearly as chuffed as the hotel manager is' ho hum .
  13. The 'GOLD' Exchange (50yards in on the left) Soi Rungland Village (Pattaya Tai) generally beats the rest of the Town's rates............but unless youre chopping up for a couple of saen....whats the point of searching - a few points of a baht aint killing anyone. UK people - best rate is out the ATM with a Nationwide Flex account (No fees and flat 0% bank2bank rate). But one account/card will only allow £300 / song muen per day (best to have two or three). .
  14. It may be the same arae but its NOT Aromdee hes talking about (as with most of Pattaya there are many condos etc in that generality) Aromdee is way cheaper Heres a copy/paste of one of their ads: Apartments: fully furnished, balcony, cable-TV, phone, private internet line, quiet and clean, 3 minutes to Lotus North Pattaya, fan 3,000, aircon 3,700 Baht/month. Long term discount. Aromdee Apartments, Contact : by 09 938 6022 (English, German) .
  15. Sorry elef think you have the wrong place there. 3rd road going North, over the lights at Pattaya Nua they are 50yds on the right. Falang operated clean basic rooms three floors, small shop/laundry on site. OK for m/c parking but very tight for truck/pickup. OK but you can get a lot better for little more baht. But as a cheap permanent 'loom' whynot ? Take the worry out of high season hotel shortages!! .
  16. My understanding is so long as you get the Red Plates with the accompanying book, then there are no restrictions (I had no problems anywhere any time). Seems that some places in typical Thai fashion get one book and make many copy plates (give to dopey unwitting Falangs?)........ so if you have the book all is kosher. .
  17. Should have qualified this, If you go to LOS on a once yearly holiday then the airmiles dont reckon into the equation and basically 8 hours for £50 might tempt you If youre doin 4, 5 or 6 trips a year then the airmiles outweigh any £50 savings on the cheaper tickets. @ manracer402003 I know several travellers from North UK who do the shuttle to Heathrow each trip just so as not to clap eyes on any customs officers on their return .
  18. NO CONTEST! £50 / (2 x 4 hours) = £6.25 per hour!!!!!!! Youve already flown once before with Thai - do this one and then only another four trips or so for a free one (the airmiles alone are worth more than this paltry saving). .
