As usual, I knew I could count on you guys. Now I have to get my butt off the 'dole', make a bucketful of 'questionable' money, strap on my rocket pack and jet my derriere over there. Wish me luck SFKnight

Just out of curiousity, do any of the internet cafes have smart media readers. I might not have my laptop with me the next trip out and I like to send photos back to torture my married friends. SFKnight

To be honest my previous trip to Pattaya was my first there and I never really got to sample any of the bar girls. I did find the overall atmosphere there very different from the go-go's and that was neither good nor bad. I can see instances where the bar-girls would be the desire du jour and the same for go-go's. Being somewhat mercurial in my moods, I am grateful that both exist. Variety ,they say, is the spice of life and I loves my spice. Looking forward to my next trip to the place where men can be men and what the hell else is there to say? SF_Knight

Mobile phones and SMS in Thailand
sf_knight replied to valentinoxxx's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I am using a SamsungSGH-R225M which T-Mobile assures me that it will work in both Bangkok and Pattaya. The rate is supposed to be 1.99 a minute which may be a bit exorbitant, I don't know. It's not that I'll be doing a lot of calling in Thaliand, but rather just need to be reachable without anyone knowing exactly where I am (oh what a tangled web). Has anyone has any experience with the afforementioned T-Mobile? Thanks for the input. sf_knight -
it is a fujitsu lifebook p2040. hey, no one was more surprised than me when the damn thing popped and fizzed. luckily fujitsu replaced it at no cost, but they were stumped too. i'm beginning to think i should stick to paper and pen for my trips to thailand.

On a side note, I am thinking about bringing my laptop (thank god I had the foresight to buy something light <3.3 lbs>). On my last trip I tried plugging it into the hotel outlet (Grand President in BKK) on the advice of the computer tech support because it's supposedly rated for the 240v but the damn thing cooked. I bought a transformer from Radio Shack (on the salesman's recommendation) but am still a bit paranoid about bringing it. I guess the short question is do any of the hotels offer 110v??? I can do most of my computing in the internet cafes, but there are some things I just

best place to come for 1st trip ???
sf_knight replied to okulyt's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Looking at this from a slightly different angle, I'm wondering what is the minimum time you would recommend for a trip to Pattaya. Please keep in mind, that while I have a fixed amount of vacation time, I can trade workdays with my fellow slaves so I can extend it. I am an airline employee so while my travel expenses are limited, so are my options for bringing a lot of baggage. Where in Pattaya can I buy the basic essentials such as toiletries, underwear, socks, t-shirts (plain ones), etc. My thinking is that I'll buy it there, wear it and leave it behind. This is really best for those ti -
best place to come for 1st trip ???

::) I too am about to make my first trip. Of course I have a couple of inane questions. 1) Is there any part of town I should avoid for reasons of safety? 2) Is there an abundance of ATM's? Would hate to run out of cash....aaaaaarrrrggghhh! Thanks for any help SF_Knight -
actually, i would really like to know about the traditional massages. I've got a ton of stress built up in my neck and shoulders. I figure a daily massage during my trip should take care of that until I get on the plane to go home....sob! 10 days till I'm "home" again.
