  1. Sunny Valentine; thanks for replying. I was letting steam off yesterday in a internet cafe. Seems Acer Auckland will have it repaired by next wednesday. They have told me my extended warranty covers everything except the battery and power cables until June 2005. Great so i get a new motherboard and a new screen plus other bits and pieces. Still hope to get a Vaio one day. It is on my shopping list to replace the Acer when the time comes. Might go and buy a Sony photo printer before going to LOS...im pondering again
  2. Anyone got one of these esp top of the line model with CD or DVD burner etc. What is the sony software like? Do you still get standard microsoft software? I am considering buying one? My Acer travelmate motherboard died after 18 months (purchased new) and Acer are bitching that the motherboard is not incl in the extended (purchased as a extra) warranty. i told them bullshit so they have sent my machine to Auckland to consider wether they pay or I pay. Im off to LOS week after next so I don't have time to play with. They told me my machine will be looked at in a priority line. bullshit again. sorry pete for my french. Might just go and buy a sony and get them to repair the bugger whilst away and sell it for what i can when i get back although overall i will be about $NZ6K worse off. Probually only make about $2K off the old machine although it cost me about $6500. My old compaq was better than this more expensive Acer... Going to ponder this weekend...

  5. Roppongi who did you email , priceline or JW Marriott itself.? thanks.
  6. above:elevated view from pattaya center jnr suite I love the big rooms, but they must be numbers 601,602,701,702,801,802 etc as the jnr suites are only located on the front of the building (maybe back end as well) good rooms to party in, the girls like them, central to beach road and most malls. the view is absolutely breathtaking with large windows and plenty of sun. The downside is they are a bit oldest (but still adequate to what you pay) the bathroom is simple and the phone has to go through a operater, no chance to use the internet from your room. I have never stayed at the Flipper Lodge, however for the first time next month I will be staying at Flipper House.
  7. Joker I am staying there next month but Papillion messaged me that there is no problem. Remember its another hotel in the stable like grand president.
  8. Papillion, but if you stay at the Baioke you get two lift paases thrown in plus a welcome drink up at the bar.
  9. A shot of the residence garden safe. Still I wouldn't worry about it. I have taken my laptop to Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia. Even left it in a bungalow with a room full of bargirls in Phuket whilst i went on a day trip to James Bond island and the laptop and the girls were still there when I returned. Gotta love Thailand.
  10. Found out they stopped flying to U-Tapao from PP about a year back now. You have to go thru Bangkok. I was trying to cut out one long taxitrip/bus ride on news years eve.
  11. I have checked out Bangkok Airways website as well ans some of the pages of their website pages script are corrupted.
  12. Has anybody flown this route. Is it direct or via Bangkok. I need to know. I have instructed my travelagent to book my a flight from Bangkok to Phnom Pehn then back again but to U-Tapao so I don't have to travel from Bangkok to Pattaya. The travel Agency says the flight doesn't exist so can somebody tell me the schedule/flight number/days of service/departure time. thanks in advance.
  13. Don't know about Ptty but the Conrad in BKK has high speed but comes at a price, 640 baht per day.
  14. about $NZ300 at least = about THB6000
  15. When ever I used to leave my beloved Thailand from my Bangkok hotel, On the way to the Airport the taxi used to go pass this rather tall building on the highway. One taxi driver told me it was a hotel which I later found out was the Baiyoke. If you check out on FLB under hotel bookings and select Bangkok this link should pretty much take you to it. http://www.freelancerbar.com/Hotels/booking.html As my wife was going to be in Bangkok for 2 or 3 days I booked a jnr Suite on the 52nd floor for a absurb amount of 2500 baht per night. There is a small hallway leading into the jnr suite pass the bathroom There is a large kingsize bed and small lounge area to the left of the bed-area. The room is actually shaped in a "L" size. As can be seen the colour scheme is light pastels on the bed, drapes and carpets. There is a very nice lobby area as well as a revolving chinese restaurant on the top floor. (77th floor) We ate there on our last night and it was fine dining that could be charged back to your room account. There was a electronic inroom safe and although I was with my filapina wife, It appeared to be guest friendly. My wife could pass as a thai and not once was she challenged for a thai ID card. It is also a great area to stay in for bargains and IT. There are thousands and thousands of footpath stalls as well as proper shops. All the proper shops advertise fixed prices. Also a ten minute around the corner is Panthip plaza. I would stay here again if I wanted to be off the Sukkumvit strip and I wanted a nice hotel in a interesting part of town.
  16. interested in some names. Maybe dickhead airlines.
  17. Ben, yes we had a pvte discussion on Fortune in April when I was last in town but I was hoping to see if any other members had the same experience as you.
  18. I hope that incls video monitors. I love TG but SG and CX are leaving them for dead
  19. never heard of it. Probually a misprint and is the landmark hotel in Bangkok.
  20. Looking for some accomodation for late December. Been in the lobby. Are the rooms clean and modern or are they old and tattered. I like the location as its close to shopping and away from Sukumvitt. Still considering the JW Marriot if I can afford it. Final Question. Quest Friendly.??????
  21. I've stayed at both whilst Pres Solitaire say they might be 5 star they are only about 3.5 stars whilst Conrad is a 5 star plus.
  22. heres the link. http://www.hotels.com/process_search.jsp;j...2&numchildren=0 There is no Conrad but does anybody have any idea where Royal City Avenue is as the Rddison looks ok for $US65.00 per night.
  23. The Conrad Bangkok is the second best hotel I have ever stayed at (The best being in a suite at The Hyatt Regency in Surabaya, Indonesia) I have stayed at the Conrad twice on the last two trips at 2 nights each time. The hotel is situated in one of the towers of All Seasons Place which is halfway down Wireless Road. Wireless Road is a ten minute walk to the BTS Skytrain stop (only 1 stop to nana station or two stops to Asoke station) or a 20-25 minute walk to NanaPlaza if you have the energy and time. Wireless road is of course home to many embassies. In one of the towers at All Seasons Place is the New Zealand embassy and also down the road are the embassies of United States of America, Great Britain and Vietnam. The Conrad hotel is a member of the Hilton group and you can earn hiltonhonours through staying at the Conrad Bangkok. The lobby is very nicely appointed and there are two bars on the ground floor, a restaurant and ballroom on the first floor plus numerous meeting rooms. The hotel lobby also connects to the shopping mall at All Seasons Place which has a nice mix of retail, food, a foodhall and a small supermarket. There are also ATM's there. I ate there several times instead of in the hotel. I have only stayed in their standard guest rooms, both times on different sides of the tower block and both views were excellent. The rooms are nicely decorated and even the small things have been thought of. Nice carpets, nice drapes, kingsize bed, quality furniture, office table, sofa area with coffee table etc. What I really, really like about the Conrad Bangkok is the bathrooms two main features. The first is the bathroom curtain. There is a electric curtain seperating the bathroom from the main bedroom. It is fun if you have a shy TG for a night and she runs off to the toilet and you push the button as she holds on to her dignity. The second feature is the shower. There is a regular shower or there is the rain shower. That is a shower that delivers water to your water/heating requirements through a water nozzle in the ceiling. As can be seen in the photos there is a very good bathtub and wellstocked vanity supplies. The Tv is of reasonable size and is placed in a nice cabinet which can be swivelled slightly. There is a volume control button in the bathroom, So that you sing in the shower if you put MTV on before hitting that wonderful rain shower. There are three telephones in the room, 1 bedsaid one, 1 desk one and one in the bathroom. The desk one also has a attached high speed modem which you can use at 640 baht per 24 hour period of time. I used it once on my first trip but on my second trip I just dialed up loxinfo (after changing the telephone number on my settings from the Pattaya number to the Bangkok number) and it worked just fine at 56kps. There is a inroom electronic safe and normal extras to be found in five star accomodation. And if you forget to purchase on the way home Conrad Bangkok management have remembered you by placing strawberry flavoured durex in the refrigerator. I made it down to the pool when I checked out and was disapointed that I hadn't made it down here previously. This was the nicest and biggest swimming pool that I had seen in any hotel in Thailand. And the setting was very much like in a resort. Lovely area to spend a afternoon in Bangkok drinking cool OJ'S away from the maddening crowds of the city. If you want to book yourself a room here is the link.http://www.conradbangkok.com They normally sell thier rooms through thier website at $US87.00 per night. I just had a look at their website and it appears the cheapest rate is now $US99.00 per night or $US109.00 incl breakfast. IM glad I got the oportunity to stay there when my wallet could afford thier great promo rates.
