  1. Priceline got me. I was trying to get into the Marriott but ended up with reservations at my price at another 5 star--the Westin Grande Sukhumvit. Has anybody stayed there? Is it TG friendly? Last time I use priceline!
  2. Alterego Have you looked at their website? Just a good collection of URLs with no advertising at all. Some of them might come in handy at times. No profit making venture. That is probably why Pete doesn't have a problem with it.
  3. Chris Get a life!! The guy asked a simple question and you blast him. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you than today!
  4. I have to agree with Woody. I have had Thomas Cook and also Citibank travelers checks and while I have always found a way to cash them, at times it was a hassle. American Express is the brand I now use 100% of the time. I feel safer than just carrying an ATM card or two since if they are stolen or eaten by a machine I am in trouble as far as getting the cash that I need. With the TCs never a problem.
  5. The rooms look nice as shown on the website! Do they have different size rooms and what price are they. Has anybody stayed there long time? How about safe deposit boxes or safes? Also, what about noise from the bar? Thanks
  6. Great You might check further into it. Two of my buddies are Canadian and they always bring US Dollars or Travelers Checks. I do not know the economics of it, but they say it is much easier to change them into Thai Baht than CDs.
  7. The end rooms are the largest, but I was in a 600Baht middle room and it was very large also. What I really liked was how clean the place was and the friendly people that worked there.
  8. My review from March is in the reviews section. I really enjoyed staying there and will go back again. They were starting to dig the hole for the pool the day that I was leaving. Should be finished by now. The website is very accurate information except it doesn't show how big the rooms are. Really Big!
  9. I have not stayed at the Asia lodge. TSM stands for Travel and the Single Male. It is a pay website. I am a member and have gotten TSM discounts many times. DO NOT use the whole name. When these get set up they just use the name TSM and explain that it is a travel group. In your email just ask for the rate with the TSM discount. There are no membership cards so don't worry about proving it.
  10. We all have opinions on what is important. Of the three that you have listed, I would go with the Eastiny. Location is my reason. I could care less about having a second room, and I wouldn't care to be in Jomtien. The only thing that interests me at the RG is the in-room safe. Do they have them at Eastiny? Regardless, I would opt for the Eastiny and be in the heart of the action.
  11. I stayed at the Koenig in March and was very happy with my choice. The rooms were large and very clean. The aircon worked well and their was plenty of hot water. An easy and safe walk to 2nd road and to Walking Street. The staff and the owner were outstanding. They were a lot of fun and were a great help to me. They were breaking ground for a pool when I left. Does anybody know if it is completed yet?? I paid 600Baht including all taxes and the girls liked the place too. A good deal. Thanks
  12. Can anybody tell me exactly where the Yensabai Condos are located? I have walked many times up Soi Yensabai from Second Road all the way to the Hotel Koenig which is at the end of Soi Yensabai and have not noticed the Yensabai Condo's. Maybe I am blind---LOL---Help?
  13. Just a suggestion. I always make my reservation with the President properties (Have stayed there 20 or more times) via email and ask (and get) a confirmation stating that the price includes all taxes etc and is the net rate including one breakfast! Once I did have to pull it out when checking out and they immediately made a copy and adjusted my bill. Hope this helps.
  14. I agree that the GP is the best place to stay in BKK. That price is much to high still. Using the TSM discount, (Just say you are a member), I just had a one bedroom suite for a week for 13970 baht. If I had wanted a studio that was in the 9000 range.
  15. I refuse to set these deals up. When they ask for them I tell them NO! I ask them to reserve my room anyway. 50% of the time they do it and the rest they do not. I then go directly to the hotel involved and deal with them. There are too many empty rooms for the hotels not to back down.
  16. Sorry that I don't think of these all at once. I am between these two. (Queen Victoria--Soi Yadsok; Hotel Koenig--- Soi Yensabai) Can anyone tell me if either or both of them have in-room safes or at least safe deposit boxes in lobby? Thanks
  17. I have reservations for 10 days starting on the 27 of Feb and will write a full report afterwards. It sounds nice on the website. A few questions for those who have stayed there: 1. How is the restaurant and what are the restaurant hours? 2. Is there a market nearby (7-11 or something) to stock up the refrigerator. 3. With a restaurant, I presume they have room service? Thanks Mike
  18. The current promotion roomrate is 600P. Looks like a good deal. Only, Do Baht busses pass near there?
  19. Can anybody tell me what hotels besides Residence Garden has in room safes. I prefer those to the boxes at the front desk. Thanks
  20. Thanks to all who responded. I tried to get reservations at Both Flippers and at Eastiny Place as well as Sunchine Hotel but they were unavailable. I am open to any more suggestions! Thanks
  21. I am going to be in Pattaya soon for my first trip. I have checked hotels for availability and have gotten positive responses from the following: Residence Garden Welkom Inn soi 2 Queen Victoria soi 6 Pattaya Centre Beach road near walking street? Where would you stay forgetting about the price. I like nice, clean, quiet, convenient, and near the action. Good food helps. Thanks
  22. This trip I want to stay in the heart of things and the type room that I wanted is not available at Flipper. Does anyone have a direct websit for the Sunshine Hotel? I tried the travel agencies but usually I can get a better deal working directly with the hotel. Also Any other hotels anyone might suggest would be appreciated. Thanks
