  1. Can anyone tell me whether you can fit a laptop computer in the RG room safes. Haven't stayed there for a year or so and have never took the laptop before so if anyone can help with the query I would appreciate it. Cheers

  3. Hi Mr C, I played with a society that meets at one of the bars on Soi Yamoto (The Rising Sun I think) when I was there last Xmas. About 14 odd players both times I played. They play every Tuesday and Thursday leaving at 10am. There is a board in the bar with which courses they are playing next. Cost was 250Bht for the transport and 250Bht for the stableford comp (which you didn't have to enter). I played the Phoenix and Century courses. Green and caddy fee's at one was 700bht and 1200bht at the other if my memory is correct. Not expensive at all. I had a great time with a mix of holidayers and expats and there was no pressure to drink or partake of the fun in Laem Chabang on the way back !!! I walked rounf but the buggies were no more than 600bht at either course. Don't know whether that helps but as a 12mth newbie to the game I was able to have fun and enjoy it although my caddy did look a little depressed at the end of the round
  4. Pie - more like 9 holes for me mate ps After all this effort trying to find out the baggage limits I have just reserved 3 tickets (London to Phuket - direct to BKK) for £550 which includes a special offer of 30kgs allowance on economy :frustrated :frustrated :frustrated Anyway thanks all for the info its been very informative
  5. Guys, for info I just got this from Thai's UK website which answers the question for me......... Sporting Equipment Golfing One set of golfing equipment shall consist of one golf bag containing a maximum of 14 golf clubs, 12 golf balls and a pair of golf shoes. Golfing equipment may be included in passengers checked baggage allowance. If the baggage weight exceeds the allotted amount, a special charge may apply. A flat fee is established for the first 15 kilos on the following conditions: USD35 - (or equivalent currency) for travel wholly within Europe, within Asia, within South America or within the South West Pacific. USD70 – (or equivalent) for travel other than those mentioned above. If the weight exceeds 15 kilos, normal excess baggage charges will apply. Kindly note that for domestic services, a charge equal to 6 kilos of excess baggage will be levied for articles weighing up to 15 kilos. Any excess weight over 15 kilos will be charged at the normal excess rate. Such charges are only applicable when the actual weight is not included in the normal checked baggage allowance. If included and in excess, the normal excess baggage rate or special charge, whichever is less, shall apply. Don't know why I didn't look here before
  6. Pie / Greg This is the problem - I am OK because I am a Royal Orchid member hence have 32-25kgs allowance in total however my two friends will be stuffed on 20kgs !! The website also says there is a charge for exceeding this but helpfully doesn't advise what the charge will be I have emailed them and will have to ring them monday - I will post what if anything I find out
  7. Cheers all My usual agent has advised that there is a one off charge of $75 if the baggage allowance is exceeded irrespective of by how much. This basically works out as £70 extra for the clubs for the trip. As I know things aren't always as they seem I thought I would try and get some first hand experience as the last thing I want to do is find out there is a by the Kg charge and it is loads of money !! Thanks anyway for the info.
  8. Was that with no charge Hub? and with Thai?
  9. Was that with no additional cost ?? I have now been told if you go over the 20kgs baggage allowance it will cost $75 (and I assume that is one way).
  10. Hi guys, I am planning an October golfing trip to LOS and will be flying with Thai from heathrow. Has anyone any experience of taking clubs on Thai ? I haven't had a problem but have a baggage allowance of 30kgs due to my frequent flyer card however the 2 newbies with me will only have 20kgs allowance. I have been advised there is a one of fee of $75 if you go over the 20kgs but have heard other horrow stories of charges by the kilo if you are over the allowance. None of the stories have been about Thai but you can never be too careful. Any info would be much appreciated
  11. Just a quick questions for anyone in LOS at the moment. I am after a set of Nike Slingshot Irons and wondered if they are available in LOS and if so how much they are advertised for ? I need to know whether its worth waiting until my Xmas trip or not. Any help and info much appreciated.
  12. Thanks both. After todays game I think I will stick with rented clubs as I don't think it will make a big difference (and it saves me the hassle of lugging them around) I saw a few bars last time out that organise trips and hire clubs so I think thats the best way to go. Thanks again for the advice.
  13. To anyone out there, I have just started playing (about 4 months into it) Still learning the swing and still playing only with my irons (if you can call it playing ) I am in Pty at the end of July and wondered 1 - Whether its worth lumping my clubs half way across the world 2 - Whether anyone is out there that I can play with (and I mean GOLF) 3 - Is the weather OK to try and play at this time Any advice would be welcome
  14. Hi Wazza Will be in Pattaya from the 24th April to the 3rd May. 32 y/o and also travelling on my own as my mates had no cash. It will be my 6th trip. More than happy to meet up and have a couple of beers with you on your first and my last days (if they overlap of course !!!) Let me know where and when and I will confirm. Cheers
  15. Great except for the fact that the French have asked us to rename the station as the name offends them. ::) A very wise man once said France would be a wonderful place if it wasn't for the French living there !! ;D ;D
  16. I have a car booked on Dec 16th to take me from the airport to PTY. My flight arrives at 6.10am. If anyone is looking for a lift and is interested in sharing please drop me a line.

  19. Lloydie and SH Sounds like the beginning of a plan to me which I realise is not a good thing for LOS (as they never happen apparently) SH I havn't been to the FLB yet either on any previous trips so look forward to checking it out - It can't be as good as the pics can it !!! ;D Anyway I'll keep in touch through the board and maybe set up a prelim date nearer take-off. Cheers
