  1. I agree about the appearance of the building, and the garbage dump and the field will probably be something else in the future. Hmmmm. That could be good or bad. I'm waiting on nortyboy to expand on his comments about the running of the place. I am interested tho....
  2. I did a couple of days there last trip and can't reccomend it highly enough!
  3. So, above 6 to avoid the mozzies, get a better view, pay a bigger price, and maybe/maybe not have to walk the stairs. Or, below 6 to join the mozzies, reduce the quality of the view (?), get a reduced price, and have a less arduous potential walk on the stairs. Hmmmm. I think a lower floor for me, with mozzie defences, a view of the swimming pool, smaller price, and easier passage in turbulant times.
  4. Out of onterest, why above 7? I'd have thought lower was better for when the lift is fucked?
  5. Right area for me condo street. price in the right area. More info required
  6. Too dear for me, unless you are into Jomtien of course. I stay in Patts for B6000 per week, B7 electric, no water charge!
  7. Yeh, that appealed but whenever I look on the website the gear seems to be poop. Guess they have good batches and bad batches. I'll give it a go tho. Cheers!
  8. Sorry, photography is not one of tilaks strong points. In the end, the guy put 2 matching/locking doors in, and toshed evrything to match! I'm chuffed to be honest
  9. Yeh lol. Took him 3 full days, and he painted it as well!
  10. Don't shoot the messenger! I didn't even ask for this information, he offered it. Nice guy really. He called me at home to answer my emailed question about the annual inflationary rise. He said there were 2 things i should do. !) Contact the taxman because I may want to pay tax outside the Uk, and I'm buggered if I can remember the other as he caught me slightly on the hop. One thing that does keep crossing my mind though, is if I decided to have the wedge paid into my Thai account (tax deducted or not), how would the pension company know when I'm dead and to stop paying? No effect on me
  11. Jacko. I spoke to my company pension office yesterday and they tell me that I can elect to have the tax deducted in either country. In addition they can pay my monthly payment into my Thai bank account for the princely sum of £1.50 (so why does my bank charge me £20 for the same service?), and I DO get an inflationary rise each year. All good so far. If I retire early, they will advance me my state pension in full, until it kicks in on my 65th Birthday. However, the state are not so generous and unless I spend 6 months or more in the yuk I will get no annual increase on the part of my pens
  12. Thanks guys, She lives pretty much on top of Homeworks. Good starting point, then down the Suk, back up klang and Bobs your uncle!
  13. I agree! (and I'm ready to book). Contact details please? ...
  14. Ok. I know I'm a cc (rightly) IMHO. However, i am bending these days and am in the process of furnishing an apartment so tilak can let a room and make a few squid. However. Whenever i go and look at furniture to fill said apartment, the prices seem to be the same/more expensive than in yuk. This I resent! Maybe I'm going to the wrong places ex: Index on the Suk Rd, and the new Big C on Klang. But shit! It's hard to find anything that competes with Argos, B&Q (as was), or a good old fashioned charity shop. I mean, this gear is only for a lodger so I'm buggered if I'm buying quality for some
  15. Ok. So pay the dues in yuk and play a little loose in los seems to be the touch. I'll settle for that. Thank you
  16. Thanks ricktoronto! I took your advice and hired the Thai handyman from tilaks restaurant. For labour and materials he initially asked B10,000. When he found out that the job was for one of his own he agreed to my B5000. So B5000 got me labour, materials, all delivered to site, the workmanship looks ok from the pics, and saved me a lot of hassle. It also means I have a proven subby on tap for future ref. I'm happy with that, but what would you guys say? ....
  17. Thanks gents. Just the sort of advice/info i was looking for, though I haven't had time to read/digest it yet as working. Will have state and work pensions combined and either money in the bank from the sale of my house, or rental income if I go down that route. If I opted to pay tax in LOS, would I still get inflation rises on my pension if I was resident in LOS. Could I keep 'em if I spent a certain amount of time in the Uk each year Rod Stewart like? So much to ponder!
  18. I believe that on retirement I have the option of paying tax either in the Uk or in Thailand when I move there. If this is so, I'm guessing that it must be preferable to pay it in LOS, as i can't imagine anyone being as bloodthirsty as the British Taxman. Or would I be wrong?
  19. Good news! U have an email address for them per chance?
  20. Your pretty sharp! But not sharp enough to actually know where I could buy the stuff. Thanks for trying tho...
  21. Fine! So, B3000 for a farang, and B100 top wack for a Thai. That will do me.
