Out of LAX it seems EVA is the clear choice when you'd like a stop-over. Price vs. service level is a darn good bang for the buck. The EVA lounge in TPE has a shower in it, the food isn't great but it is acceptable. Also, I feel much better after showering and changing into a new set of clothes. If you can take 17+ hours on 1 plane, then the non-stop on Thai would be your choice.
