  1. Below is the email address of the woman who owns the taxi place in Pattaya. Ask for Thanapod; he is the guy in the white E320 Mercedes Benz. He will meet you in BKK airport at the taxi staging area (inside the airport) holding a sign with your name in BIG letters. You will not be able to miss him. She will charge you 1200 plus tolls (add'l 150-175 baht). Thanapod will stop at her place in PTY, she will come to the car and you pay her. Then you negotiate with him directly for the return trip, cutting out the middleman and reducing the price 200 baht. I always call the day before or ear
  2. I like to dance so I go to Marine next to Peppermint. If you want to watch a show on stage with so-so music, it's Hollywood, Lucifer, etc. I liked Marine; great looking ladies you can move with on the dance floor. That is a big plus for me; I love breaking the ice by asking a female to dance.
  3. I pay 1000 plus tolls from BKK Airport to Pattaya and vice versa. My guy drives a Mercedes E320. You could grind him down to 800 plus tolls, but why bother?
  4. North Side of town: Sabai Lodge..new wing South Side: the Residence Garden Why: Relatively large-sized, clean rooms. Both far enough away from the action so it's quiet at night. Both close enough to the action it's only a 5 minute baht bus ride away. Price is right at about 1300-1400 baht per night. No problem with guests.
  5. Mate: I'll ring you a bell Waiting in line, or Waiting on line The Loo, the queue to get in the loo, etc. Skedule (phonetic only) or schedule
  6. In-room safes are like exercise machines: If you use them properly, and every day, they won't let you down. It's as simple as that. Check out the tips contained in this thread, and you won't risk a serious amount of cash, or property.
  7. Cybers1: I agree. I believe the best alternative will be the new place under construction by the Dyansty group. Opens in mid-2005, I hear.
  8. I'd ask my hotel to recommend a service. You know the approximate cost, just don't get ripped off. I tried Alex's service, but got stood up at my hotel. I emailed when I first arrived in BKK to inform Alex I arrived safely; 3 days later I emailed to confirm my pickup the following afternoon. Got nothing from the guy. Didn't answer the phone after I called when he was 30 minutes past due, either. This may be the exception to the rule, but do you want it to be you?
  9. I had a bad experience with Alex, too. I confirmed a day and time (BKK to PTY) with him 4 weeks prior to my trip. He replied by email to say he'd be there unless he emailed to the contrary. He has all my info, too. Hotel name, address and phone, and my name. So, no excuse for not being able to get in touch with me. I emailed him upon arrival (4 days prior). I also emailed the night before he was to pick me up at my hotel and take me from BKK to Pattaya. No reponse at all, so according to his email, I assume he'll be there. After all, I have a recommendation from a board member, right? He doesn
  10. Vegas Dave: Check expedia or orbitz (.com), there are fares in December right on top of the rates quotes by KJ...
  11. 1. What does the TSM stand for in a TSM discount? 2. Has anyone stayed at the Royal Asia Lodge in Bangkok; I'd love to hear some feedback.
