  1. Hi, I agree. However, Man United are in lots of debt at the moment and the stock market dosen't think they are worth what the Glazers hype would have you believe. I like Man United's football style but you've been Glazered and it could be difficult for you in the future. Good wins for Champions of Europe, Chelsea, and City yesterday suggesting that both will be in the mix this season. Liverpool had a bad result but Man Utd and Arsenal had heavy defeats last season and came back. I'm looking forward to see how all the young managers including Rodgers and Laudrup get on this season. Laudrop was a great player and may beat the jinx on great players as managers. Only the odd one is a success as a manager.
  2. Hi, I think it's unfair to pick on Liverpool as United had the same problem when Sir Matt Busby retired. When Fergie goes who knows. He seems to have an unhealthy influence on the referees and many other managers in the League. Fatboyfat it is ex United players not managers as stated in your post.
  3. Hi, It's unusual for a United fan to admit that. Add the "Old Traffordish"decisions from the refs and it adds up. Fat Sam is back in the League as well which is another plus for Fergie. I was glad when Blackburn sacked him when he lost 7-1 at Old Trafford.I think United's European form is a better way to judge them as it's a more level playing field.
  4. Hi, That's a popular perception. It starts today so let's hope it's a cracker.
  5. Hi, Same, same. I wouldn't buy a second hand car from Wenger. Got much more than I thought he would for RVP. However, it's a balanced deal as if he plays at the top of his game he will have been worth the money to Fergie and Man Utd.
  6. Hi, Man Utd have a boost from signing RVP. I'd say the players at Arsenal hadn't planned on RVP being around at the start of the season. They have made some good signings so should be in the top 4/6 again this season. Maybe one of our teams will surprise us and win the thing ?
  7. Hi, Thanks for your contribution. Welcome to the board.
  8. Manchester City did the business for me last year and it’s a case of who can stop them again this year. Mancini has a great record of winning leagues in Italy so will know what is required to defend the title. Manchester United performed well last season and only lost out to City in the last minute of the season. The Glazers seem to be in financial difficulty with their shopping malls in US and so money will be tight enough for Ferguson this season. Still, RVP is a good signing and might be the difference if it’s a close race. Kawaga, who may have been signed with the hope of raising the profile in Japan, and Powell, seem fairly run of the mill signings with no guarantee of success. Chelsea are Champions of Europe but they may have to rebuild the team after their sacking of AVB who was supposed to carry out the task last season. They seem to have plenty of money to spend and have signed some good players. Oscar seems a player with a future and Eden Hazard is a big name already. Arsenal have signed some top players in Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud. RVP will be a big loss but Arsene had no choice. The players are in the driving seat. I hope they give it a good go. AVB has moved on to Spurs and I will be interested in how he performs there. It looks like Modric is on his way to Real which will be a big loss. AVB, like Arsene, really had no choice. Jan Vertonghen seems a good signing and I’m sure there will be others before the transfer window closes. Newcastle will struggle to do as well as they done last year. They have great support and I hope they keep up the entertaining football. Liverpool are another team in transition with a new manager. Brendan Rodgers has a difficult task to keep a truculent fan base onside and it may be amusing for us outsiders if Liverpool hit a losing run. Still, I think Rodgers is a good manager for Liverpool and let’s see how they go. The others seem to be playing for mid table mediocrity and I hope some of their supporters are pleasantly surprised. West Ham, Southampton and Reading are the new entrants and it will be a good season for their fans. Southampton have produced good players and play nice football. I hope they can stay up. I like to get VFM when I have a bet but just can’t see beyond Manchester City, who are favourites, this year. Most of the other top teams seem to be in a transitional phase and they could have a clear run. Good luck if you have a bet and enjoy the season.
  9. Hi, The British aren't complete deadbeats yet. They may have lost the Empire but they know how to put on a show. The BBC did a good job of televising it as well. Much better than SKY's coverage of the US PGA. Maybe they have CBS to blame but their coverage was "ordinary" as the Ausssies say.
  10. Hi, Well done to Mo Farah. Very few athletes have won those 2 titles and they are all legends of athletics.
  11. Hi, That Dutch lady stood out. Racial mixing seems to work as far as women are concerned.
  12. Hi, Interesting article. http://www.dailymail...o=feeds-newsxml In the 100 metres on Saturday, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce did not threaten Florence Griffith-Joyner’s mark. At 10.75, she was more than a quarter of a second down. In the 400m on Sunday, the best part of two seconds separated the winning time from the ‘WR’. Tirunesh Dibaba’s winning time for the 10,000m this year was almost a minute off world record pace, even if she was faster in Beijing in 2008.
  13. Hi, Andy Murray Gold Medal.
  14. Hi, I think CT mentioned her times. It is generally perceived that she was "chemically enhanced". She died in her thirties I think.Nice looking woman.
  15. Hi, See how few medals Germany win at the moment. Long way from when they dominated so much when East Germany was around. Flo-Jo died young. She paid a high price.
  16. Hi, I'm not a great fan of the Chinese but in this case I think it is propaganda. Ian Thorpe was on BBC and said he improved a lot around tthis age and that it is not unusual. I like the swimmers as they are freaks of nature and I dont think they need drugs. Sprinters in athletics are a different kettle of fish but I think Bolt is another freak and as such may not need any drugs. In the past we had sprinters like Johnson, Christie and too many Americans to mention who looked like they were on all sorts of drugs.
  17. Hi, France got 2 gold medals last night. Beat the Americans, South Africans and Australians in the medley.
  18. Hi, Because of Trainspotting I assumed he was Scottish. Still not really English is he ?
  19. Hi, Danny Boyle, a Scot, ran the show. Do the Scottish run everything in England ?
  20. Hi, She's a lady I believe. Well done for getting it right. Too many Monday morning QB's around.
  21. Hi, He is kinda a meeter and greeter for Wimbledon. I hope Andy wins and becomes the first Englishman to win it for nearly 80 years.
  22. Hi, I feel sorry for the fans of many football clubs, including Rangers. Their clubs are being used for all types of dodgy transactions by very dodgy people. Even Man Utd are involved in some dodgy share sale in New York. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/9375462/Manchester-Uniteds-100-million-flotation-may-reduce-Glazer-debt-slightly-but-it-wont-boost-transfer-kitty.html# Manchester United's $100 million flotation may reduce Glazer debt slightly - but it won't boost transfer kitty Page one of Manchester United’s $100 million prospectus confronts potential investors with a stark warning. "Investing in our Class A ordinary shares involves a high degree of risk," it reads. cheshirered 1 day ago Has there ever been a more depressing or disgraceful ownership model in United's history? Borrow hundreds of millions and then make the club itself pay your debts? It's scandalous that the 'authorities', those who purport to manage the game at the highest levels, have not so much as lifted a finger while this grand larceny continues. FA? Yeah, sweet FA done by them. Premier League? 'Ownership neutral', they claim. Backbone neutral more like. Uefa? Fifa? Non existant. And all the while David Gill has insulted the intelligence of 'domestic' United supporters who challenged the owners (the owners who now pay him a record salary as United CEO)... by claiming this debt was nothing to worry about. Ha. So much for 'Debt is the road to ruin'. And now the parasites* - for that is exactly what they are, are tacitlly admitting for the first time that their over-leveraged model is in need of desperate fiscal repair. £500 million plus down the tubes in fees, interest charges and 'dividends' and this isn't illegal? Scandalous. * parasite: 1. an organism that lives on or in an organism of another species, known as the host, from the body of which it obtains nutriment. 2. a person who receives support, advantage, or the like, from another or others without giving any useful or proper return, as one who lives on the hospitality of others. http://dictionary.reference.co...
  23. Hi, Great show from Spain. Must go down as the best International team of all time. They still have most the team in mid 20's so could break the hoodo of European teams winning the WC in South America.
  24. Hi, Italy have as good a record against Spain as they do against Germany. Ballotelli showed his class last night. An Italian journo said he is the saner of the 2 strikers. Still Cassano had a good game as well.
  25. Hi, Italy have a great record in semi-finals and against Germany. They will give Germany a tough game this evening. Spain struggle but beat Portugal on penalties. The best teams have been in the mix and if Spain win it will be a great achievement.
