Airbus and Boeing products running behind schedule
wacmedia replied to BigDUSA's topic in Idle Chit Chat
Hi, Both companies are privarely run. But have you read anything about the massive fines imposed on them for trying to stop fair competition? Free markets are a fine idea in principle, but I'm afraid in practice it leads to cartels and US companies trying to force any opposition out of the market so they can a monopoly. Europe Fines Intel $1.45 Billion in Antitrust Case By JAMES KANTER Published: May 13, 2009 BRUSSELS — The European Commission fined Intel a record 1.06 billion euros Wednesday for abusing its dominance in the computer chip market, the strongest sign yet that regulators worldwide are serious about opening the technology sector to competition. We Europeans have a responsibility to show less culturally developed places in the World how to behave. America professes to believe in "free markets" but anyone who sees how their companies, like Microsoft and Intel, behave know this is bunkum. Airbus sticks in their craw as it’s a case of beating them at their own game. -
Hi, A good weekenf for gooners as Man Utd lose at home and Chelsea drop points against Everton. Arsenal beat Liverpool in a scrappy game but Wolves have a great win against Spurs. Lets hope Arsenal can make it a 3 way scrap for the title despite key players out injured. Tevez looks good for Man City who drop points as well.

Hi, Airbus A400M has beaten the Nightmareliner to first flight. I think the delays on the Boeing plane has been much more damaging to their reputation as its a civilian craft. -
Hi, I got some flak when I said that the Ronaldo money was for the debt. I think Man Utd need a rich Arab to take over the club from the Glazers but they will wait in the wings in case it all goes tits up and they can get the club at a much lower price. Several other clubs have serious problems.

Hi, A real old fashioned English game, though only 8 Englishmen is the starting 22, as Man City beat Chelsea in a great game. Tottenham fail to beat struggling Everton and remain in 4th place.Man Utd remain in trouble financially. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle6945421.ece From The Times December 5, 2009 Glazer family hit the wall over refinancing of Manchester United James Ducker, Helen Power The Glazer family, the owners of Manchester United, are struggling to refinance their enormous debts amid concerns about the impact they are having on the club.

Hi, If the bugger stays on the tarmac and never flies this statement will be true. -
Hi, Old Traffordish refereeing seems to be on a Nationwide tour this year. Rooney seems to have carte blanche to dive in the box as much as he likes because England are hoping he can win the World Cup for them next Summer. UEFA need to have a close look at some of the refs in the Premiership for sure. Liverpool are lucky to beat Everton in a poor quality game. Chelsea prove much too good for Arsenal in an excellent performance.
-
Hi, Another good performance by Sunderland against one of the top 4. Chelsea look impressive again while Everton look very poor against Man Utd. The Liverpool teams need some money and they need it fast. Time to show Americans the door as they have none.

Hi, I'm sure the management have everything under control. -
Hi, Maybe, but they get most of the decisions in most of the games.

Hi, These shows are an authentic part of the cultural scene in BKK. I'd have liked to have been in that privileged position.

Hi, Burnley were the stars of the weekend, getting their first away point at the ultra rich Man City. Man Utd played a sound tactical game but were undone by a sucker punch from John Terry. Arsenal keep in the hunt with an easy win against Wolves.
-
Hi, Another defeat for Spurs, this time in the North London derby. Good win for Chelsea and Man Utd win as well setting up a showdown next week in London. Liverpool lose again and seem to be under pressure both on and off the field.
-
Hi, Well done Stoke City for their best win in the Prem against Spurs.
-
Hi, Man Utd's barkers, in the media, were out in force at the weekend to bury Rafa and Liverpool. Unforunately, for them, Torres and Liverpool had too much class for a disappointing Utd. Even the much maligned Lucas had a good game. Chelsea had a great win against Blackburn. Arsenal were held by West Ham after 2 contentious decisions by the referee. As I've said here before I think they need several English Internationals on the team before they will get a fair shake from the Premiership referees.

Hi, Renault haven't a bad record in F1 either. They won the last one in Brazil as well as supplying the winning engine at least 8 times and 6 times in a row at one stage in the constructers championship. Those French ain't bad engineers. -

Hi, More trouble! Spring of 2011 anyone ? http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20091021-711607.html 2nd UPDATE:Boeing Swings To 3Q Loss On Commercial Jet Charges By Ann Keeton Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Hammered by cost overruns on two new commercial airplane programs, Boeing Co. (BA) swung to a third-quarter loss, recording $3.5 billion of previously disclosed charges for the 787 and the 747-8 Freighter. While costly, the 787 program is still on track to make money, unlike the 747-8 program, which Boeing said recently has moved to an overall "forward loss position." Jim McNerney, chairman and chief executive, said Wednesday during a conference call that Boeing will decide in the next two weeks where to locate a second production line for the 787, either in Everett, Washington, with existing facilities, or in Charleston, South Carolina, where 787 parts are made. McNerney said any geographical inefficiencies with the Charleston location could be more than overcome by its lack of union workers, who "strike every three or four years." But he said talks are ongoing as to which location will be chosen. McNerney said the two troubled aircraft programs, the 787 Dreamliner, and 747-8 Freighter, remain on track to make their first deliveries to customers at the end of 2010. Boeing continues to evaluate the need to cut commercial aircraft production, but has no plans to cut 737 production rates, the executive said. Earlier this year, Boeing cut back on plans for the 777, on lower demand from airlines. Boeing Capital Corp., which helped customers finance aircraft during this year's credit crunch, will provide $800 million of financing in 2009, less than the $1 billion earlier expected, as the capital markets have begun to open up, McNerney said. The company on Wednesday slashed its 2009 earnings view to $1.35 to $1.55 a share, from $4.70 to $5.00 a share, as defense work, which accounts for nearly half of revenue, failed to make up for commercial airplanes losses. McNerney said Boeing will keep looking closely at its defense strategy, but expects to maintain double-digit percentage operating margins across the unit. Boeing will offer forecasts for 2010 at the beginning of next year. Boeing said Wednesday that the Dreamliner is still on track for first flight by year's end, and first delivery in the last quarter of 2010. But analyst Heidi Wood at Morgan Stanley cut her rating on Boeing shares to underweight from equalweight Tuesday, worried that complex design modifications could delay the first delivery of the aircraft into spring of 2011, triggering more late fees to be paid to airline customers. Despite some speculation that Boeing could shut the 747-8, which has been slow to attract customers, McNerney said the company looks forward to getting the plane in the air soon. Boeing posted a third-quarter loss of $1.56 billion, or $2.23 a share, compared with a year-earlier profit of $695 million, or 96 cents a share. Charges, mainly from the jet programs, were $3.59 a share in the most recent period. Revenue rose 9% to $16.69 billion as a strike last year hurt the top line. A survey of analysts by Thomson Reuters predicted a $2.12 loss on $17.18 billion in revenue. -By Ann Keeton, Dow Jones Newswires; 312-750-4120; ann .keeton@dowjones.com (Joan Solsman contributed to this article.) -
Hi, Funny shit. Probably in Al Queida as well.

Hi, Sunderland seem the team in form, following a good draw at Old Trafford with a win against Liverpool. The bigger teams are always vulnerable after the Champions League/International break and Chelsea got beat despite playing well. Arsenal and Man Utd were both below par but managed a win. Burnley show improved away form despite defeat and I hope they can get some away wins and stay up.

Hi, I think they might have avoided most of the problems if they had retained the work within the company. They choose the more expensive option as its turned out. -

Hi, Problems now with the 747-8. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/boei..._boeing07.html# 747-8 delay causes doubts about Boeing Boeing added $1 billion in escalating costs as it delayed another new airplane program Tuesday, and industry analysts pinned much of the blame on poor management and a thinning of the ranks among the company's vaunted technical experts. Hi, As I've said before Ancelloti has experience of managing a successful older team. I know the Prem is faster but never underestimate that guy. The problem I see is the African players playing mid season in their Cup.
