  1. I use Gulf Air frequently from Bahrain to Bangkok and can say that they are a pretty good airline. Join the frequent flyer program and get 10 kilos extra on your luggage allowance!!
  2. I can't see where that would upset them in the least. Maybe it lost something in the translation
  3. Check out Nantana Garden View. Just behind Carrefour. 10k per month with a beautiful pool and free wireless internet. Lots of expats (including myself) living there year round. 038416225.
  4. Anybody seen any USB phones or the adapters for sale in Pattaya. Maybe in Tuk-Com?
  5. I am wondering about this as well. Would be nice to be able to set this up at home so when I am on the road I can keep in touch with the wife on a US number. Please keep up informed.
  6. Tennessee did that I think about 3-4 years ago. The only positive thing I have seen on that front lately is that to get a Hazmat endorsement on a Commercial Driver's license now, you have to go through the fingerprinting and FBI check and if you are an illegal you will not be able to get one. At least they won't be driving tanker trucks anymore!!
  7. I always take china air. business usually less than 200 bucks up then take the late emirates return business also about 200. china dprts @1500 arrvs @1900 hkg and the emirates departs hkg 2215 arrives bkk @0015.
  8. It only cost 10k baht a month, so sell everything and move tomorrow. Give all the extra to charity as you won't need it. The stunners don't work. They all have sponsors out of the country, so they give it away for free to those of us that are here. Kinda like taking it for a test drive to see if you want to make payments once you leave also. Who cares about LT vs ST. It is all free. Why ride the baht bus when you can take one of those enjoyable motorbike taxi's instead. They are so much quicker, what with them being exempt from stop signs, speed limits, and every other traffic law you can imagine. And they are all agreeable to only 10 bht no matter where they take you. If they complain, they are only kidding. Kind of a Thai tradition. Just smile and walk away. They won't mind.
  9. Want the scoop on the visa. Here it is. First off, download the forms from the US Embassy BKK website. Then go to a post office in BKK and plunk down 100 bucks or 4000 bht for the application fee. Kiss it goodbye first. Get all the papers you need from the website and go to the embassy (I think between 7 and 9), wait in line a couple of hours and turn in the papers. Get your appointment slip for the interview. It will be sched for 3-4 weeks later. Show up at the interview with photos of her house, car, kids, and big pile of cash if you did not turn them in beforehand. Expect to wait there at least about 5 hours. Have a 5 minute interview and get kicked in the balls. Shake your head in disgust at the fact that you are an American!! This was pretty much the scenario for me and I was trying to get only a tourist visa for my LEGALLY MARRIED WIFE because we have no desire to live in the US. Guess that must have insulted them or something. Arrogant Bastards! I suggest you check out www.Thaivisa.com for some very useful information. Also, the link to the embassy is http://bangkok.usembassy.gov Tell em I said to piss off when you get there!
  10. As far as apartments go, we have free wireless high speed here at Nantana Garden View. Located off Soi Yume, kind of behind Carefour. Pretty fast most of the time. Great pool and rates are pretty good. Just a little off the beaten path.
