  1. The Grand Hotel in Ratchadipiphisek is all bullshit; yes it has all the bells and whistles, marble, fountains etc on the ground floor but the rooms are dead ordainary. Meet your girl in reception, no problem. I marched out of there in a huff a year ago; guess what, extremely lukewarm 'hot' water! Better bet the Siam Beverley down the road; sl. cheaper too. 2 days! rock n roll! & Im in Pat! Flighty
  2. Thanks for posts folks, I do sympathize with anyone working at Heathrow, I think they do a good job with a lot of stuff outside their control. From a passenger point of view tho has anyone been truly stuffed at Heathrow lately, missed a flight & had to buy a new ticket, got compensation or had the plane wait...? 27 days... Flighty
  3. FWIW Firstly grateful to any musos who keep music live in LOS...but... First time I went in Blues Factory the house band blew yer socks off. They lost frontman Greg, great harp player etc a while ago and I think now some nights they're just coasting, with Mustang Sally, I Feel Good etc. I a'int complaining but I am surprised these excellent musicians don't want to stretch themselves a little more occasionally, though I did enjoy their version of Sandy Nelson's 'Let there be Drums' There's a four piece Thai combo in a beer bar right opposite the entrance to Blues Factory who run thru the h
  4. Last July I spent 1 hour and 3/4 in queue for Eva flight at check in. Ran through to gate final boarding etc. So what happens, does the plane go with people still queueing for fear of missing take off slot when things get hairy or what? Cheers Flighty
  5. Any other feedback on Ethiad guys...? I just booked for November thru Travelocity, £367.00 inc taxes, uses Airbus A330 200 and A340 300; we have a 12 hour wait in Abu Dhabi coming back, I'll keep the connect 4 handy. Thanks Flighty
  6. Thanks jfq and Tom, Gatwick is becoming more attractive to me, recently spent 2 1/2 hours check in at Heathrow with EVA, no time for duty free etc Flighty
  7. Has anyone any one any more information / experience on Phuket Airlines... I am looking at November, you can't do online booking... Cheers Flighty
  8. Whats the route please Griffo? Who did you book through and was there much choice of dates? Cheers Flighty
  9. Used Aeroflot once, no problems; only stopped in Moscow about two hours; are you sure there is not also a stop in Amsterdam? I looked on travelocity.co.uk Aeroflot timetable site and it shows the two stops with about four hour between connection in Amsterdam; Flighty
  10. Simon, Good luck with everything. The thing I like with LOS is how the Thais have not lost touch with their rural roots and origins; if they struggle in the cities they can return up country to the family networks and a more subsistence - type of existence. We in the West, in the post - industrial, post - service economy in my mind are in an increasingly unreal, unsubstainable place... ... A bit heavy for a first post! Trip six for me early October Flighty
