  1. Is this the place started up about 5 years ago with the music stage and aircraft pics on the wall... First time we went when they had the live blues band the food (ribs) was terrific (daytime); went there last December evening; ribs were dry, tasteless, hope they've got back to original quality.
  2. It would be useful to get any confirmation on this pls, last December the last bus from the floor below arrivals (not Bells) definately left 9pm...
  3. Another one! Gullibility: Further reading: Credit card offers. Door step evangelists: had a friend lose everything to influence of the J.Witnesses on his (ex) wife Vitamin supplements Oh dear, trying to be positive here, I don't think (UK anyway) falangs are as susceptible as Thai women to gambling; unless u know different...
  4. Whoops I meant to start a poll, so here are a few very un pc. generalisations: 1) General miserableness 2) Emotional baggage 3) Preoccupation with crap; eg shopping, shoes, television 4) Wasting money 5) Brainwashed aspirations, chip on shoulder, glass ceiling type stuff 6) Personal hygene, don't have / use bidets 7) Primary loyalty to other girlfriends, ex's, sister etc 8) Fat / lazy 9) Insecure, dwells on rivals' lifestyles 10) Has a sense of high status due to welfare receipts 11) Did I mention sex... 12) Bad taste in clothes, music, hair 13) Too gobby 14) Yucky kids 15)
  5. Glyn you won't be alone, there will probably be about 30 people doing the same trip as you in transit back to UK. I think that's significant and they would hold the plane for the London leg. There will be a guy with a sign calling out 'transit' for everyone going to UK. I've never had a problem with Etihad, Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Jet, Kingfisher, Aeroflot
  6. If you had to explain your female preferences to a falang woman what are the criticisms.
  7. Just throwing my 2010 calendars away, had a note on there for EVA charging £464 rtn up to March 21st
  8. Interesting replies. Berettakid's parents if they made it to 68 and 72 quite likely have another 20 years...I have met people at 70 in Patt who still have 90 year old parents...one in five alive today in the West will reach 100 apparently. Fondles I'm not sure of the gory details about the bedridden one! Thing also is the cost of care homes, if they have over £23,000 apart from their home they pay, and how! losely speaking. Of course in the past the aged parents used to stay with their children's family, sitting quietly in the corner knitting or making lacy round things, grinding their gum
  9. The only reason I am still living in UK and not Thailand is because 90 year old mother, had a stroke, now needs help, eg shopping, emptying bin etc. So I go over there most other days. Now she has a neighbour, similar age, bedridden, gets hoisted out of bed 4 times a day, and has been for the last 4 years! Just wondered how elderly relatives have impacted on members... or have all your old'uns been parked away in a home...
  10. I'd say Jet slightly are slightly preferable to Kingfisher, the other operator through Mumbai to LOS from UK, mostly because of their inflight food (curry).
  11. I started using www.dealchecker.co.uk IF your dates are FLEXIBLE... Usually showing Oman Air under £500 with less than 3 hour transit both ways Sometimes the site doesn't update some offers for days and they show that fact but for instance today seems to be good for offers.
  12. Yeah, fine. Loadsa stuff here: http://www.thevideobeat.com/ Be nice also to just have it off for 5 mins sometimes just to chill
  13. After all the debate can we please have a trip when you get there Farman I'm looking at Oman , 28 hours return £398 quid. Times is 'ard.
  14. If you use the 'my dates are flexible' option: You see the chosen price quoted for your original specific date, ok. But then use the arrows to view an adjusted itinery and the specific date you chose just before has jumped up in price and changed airline... But if you go back and click on that previous chosen date the cheap flight you saw first time reappears on the top horizontal list... So probably worth writing things down...
  15. Seems they have new Terminal 3 open now in Abu D, lounge facilities available to all, can be booked in advance, cost £19, also flightside hotel rooms (40 rooms)available.
  16. Regarding the 9 hour transit; I just phoned their London office and they say that now they only lay on the transit and hotel to 1st and Business class passengers. A pity because about three years ago it was a pleasant interlude on several trips, if you weren't in a hurry. Might be worth a call or email to them just to register your thoughts.
  17. £ 388 Lastminute = 9 hour outbound transit at Abu D, from memory they have a cut off of transits over 8 or 6? hours where they bus you to a good hotel, complimentary food, swimming etc
  18. Pattay is a shallow, selfish place. He would 'condemn' it but would also understand the seeking of fleeting happiness. He would advocate more self restraint and the putting of others ahead of oneself. I think he would frown particularly on those who exploit others' weaknesses, in whatever way.
  19. Agree with torrenova and Mighty One. If you're in a money saving mood it's ok. But don't undo all the work you've done saving on the flight with 'some sort of excess' when you're in town. I used to manage to go through about 2k sterling for a fortnight once I hit the spots. . Another consideration is convenience, ie timing of flights, whether you're paying for unnecessary days in the hotel...
  20. The curries on Jet seemed quite fresh, authentic and generous. Yes Mumbai / Bombay is a dump with a fair internal walk and security procedure. I slightly prefer the cleanliness of Qatar, Etihad, Gulf or Emirates, then you can also factor in convenience of timings and cost...
  21. All sounds good, location? How about Buddah Hill, Pratumnak rd area, or anywhere still in the 20 bt motobike taxi range of W Street / VC area...
  22. Used them two weeks ago mainly due to a great price for early August (£393) and the evening dep UK and retn arr Sun pm timings. Picked up a good DVD player in Bahrain for £8. Got an upgrade to Bus. for outward Hrow leg. Movies so-so, food below av. I like to break the journey and of course you're ticketed through when you leave UK so you have all info with you, just look at the monitors in Bahrain.
  23. Thanks Tom, fair enough. I see some flights from Heathrow match the £201 fare, it's the tax and fees element that makes Mchester more expensive. So I read this that BA / Quantas are pitching to bus people down from Manchester, absorb the cost of that flight just to fill seats en route to Bkok...?
  24. Sorry, not Airnet (must've been thinking about Ena Sharples again) but http://www.netflights.com (Latest offers showing from £339). - On p1 Has flight leaves Manchester eg June 11th 15.30 to HRow 16.30 then wait for the 22.00 -15.20 to BKK ( a long wait). But that second leg 22.00 flight is available straight from HRow but at £412.
