  1. BA / Quantas will fly you from Manchester to Heathrow then on to Bkk for £404. But if you just go from Heathrow on the same flight it's £412. The Hrow - BKK leg is of course direct. Strange times...
  2. I do wonder how many cabin crew are off sick at any one time with respiratory problems. Another question, how come planes through the middle east, especially Emirates, seem able to circulate some really potent farts for about ten minutes, despite all the high efficiency filters... I mean real chokers!
  3. Use'd 'em last time in January. The first leg to Bombay is quite long whereas the leg to Swampy is about two hours. Food good, fairly good ethnic curry... quite a long walk between departure gates at Bombay...fairly officious security at Bombay, one poster mentioned being told to button up his shirt there I read Hilly liked 'em I read somewhere.... You could check in about an hour and a half before departure at Hrow, the gate isn't flagged till then...Strange thing is Eva is undercutting (with a pm depart timing) all the transit routes at the moment looking at Airnet...4 weeks :Dyeh baby!
  4. (Looking at Airnet and Travelsupermarket) - A week ago there were no cheapies during January, best prices were around £520 and some of those listed a 10 hour transit. Within the last week Jet have come in and now Etihad have loads of flights £431 second half of Jan max 2 hr transit. And this is high season...
  5. September flights; just had email, Netflights.com. formerly Airline Network. £469.00 most dates September ex Heathrow available. Choice of am or pm departures via A.D. with usual shortish turnround. You might catch me playing 'Trains, and boats and planes' at the Abu Dhabi Piano Bar..velly soon
  6. It is a unique, thoroughly pleasant place in the pm with some fresh sea air. And in the evenings the walkway gives an opprtunity to view the beer bar gals you would not see from the road. - And some pleasant surprises there... If you want to attrack the Lucifer crowd I guess the music would need to change and a light show would get it buzzing but all in all a great asset to the monger crowd, well done Pete.
  7. Oman Air, Gatwick, four hours in Muscat*, £ 404, Airline Network, any good...? *'Life can seem harder to bear when you have no time to stop and stare'
  8. Oh those girls, pity I thought a ginger one might have been a novelty on that Soi
  9. The Autumn budget brings a tax on flights instead of passengers from Nov 2009. 'Air passenger duty will be replaced from Nov 2009 with a scheme that charges flights instead of individuals. The Chancellor's measure is designed to increase pressure on airlines to reduce the number of empty seats and thus inprove the ratio between emissions and passengers. WWF-UK said 'it was good news for the enviroment - it gives airlines an incentive to fill planes' Any ideas how this this will manifest itself please - Maybe we'll see last minute bargains appear again? - all the online providers seem t
  10. Welcome aboard mate, remember you're the boss (sort of) it's up to you, and don't forget to resize the pics when you post a report!
  11. I too miss Gatwick / Etihad - I'm looking at Qatar in future, still Gatwick. What I can't understand tho is that there's little price wise between a Thai or Eva direct flight and some Etihad fares. Surely there's a considerable cost saving for the airlines that go in two hops because they're carrying less fuel weight...?
  12. 'TIPS' Just put a big box on a counter with someone smiling sitting to it, put a big sign up outside 'TIPS ACCEPTED HERE'
  13. Bill, thanks for the quick follow up. You are right! Plenty of imminent dates available at £388.00 with good connection timing. I note also EVA are doing rtn for £404.60 for London dpt. Regards
  14. Whoa there! About six months ago you got the fare quoted with Lastminute; try following the next stages and I think you'll get a price quoted of £481.00 on the 'view details panel'. (Despite it quoting, as you say, £388.00 inc taxes).
  15. OK Hats off to Insure and Go, they undercut the big guns and haven't wasted a whole lot of bucks on TV advertising etc. I'll be testing (hopefully not) my cover next week
  16. A bit premature insofar as the planes aren't built yet but last week the following was reported in case you didn't see it. 'Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic placed a £4bn order with Boeing for 43 new 787's. It represents the biggest order ever placed by a European airline and will help Virgin launch new routes from Britain to Bangkok, Rio, Seattle, Vancouver and Melbourne. Virgin is also planning the first non-stop direct service between London and Australia. The airline will begin by flying direct to Perth - which is expected to take 16 hours - but eventually hopes to run non stop rou
  17. Best to draw a line in the sand around 10.00 am. If they stay after this it gets confusing where things are going. And they have to work in 9 hours time. If you're getting on fine you could offer to pay barfine next night - without you actually taking her out - to take the pressure off. The trouble with this tho is that she will likely still want to earn the next night, she won't just take a night off. I'd be interested in thoughts on this.
  18. Abu Dhabi's Ok but they've only got seven stalls if you want a dump. Best do it before take off, lighten the load, get there quicker
  19. I too am flying first time with them since demise of Gwick Etihad route. Thanks for info Millwall. What's Doha airport like, it was being upgraded recently..? One thing, they issue E tickets and ask you to be at airport 3 hours prior.... Another thing, Airline Network have had offers this week ranging £394 - 400 under special deals April, May June...
  20. Yes rains very sad. Departures last 15 times with them from new departure gate, never more than quarter full even on Saturdays. But I know a bunch of golfer types from around Croydon who would still prefer to pay another £50 for a visit and queue to Heathrow than admit to taking a flight with a plane change to their friends for fear of being laughed at.
  21. So it looks as though Gatwick devotees are left with Emirates and Qatar?
  22. Got my hands full dreaming up nonsense for farangforum thank you
  23. Dave As I wrenched myself away from the Kylie Minogue video in the Blues Factory last night to visit the john I found the squirty soap was empty. The man directed to the well rounded lump of Imperial Leather. Just thought you might want to know.
  24. Points in favour for Etihad over Thai: You can avoid Heathrow and go from Gatwick or Manchester; check in will be much quicker (ie often instant), planes are smaller so quicker boarding, likely to be half empty on leg to Abu Dhabi, the stop in Abu Dhabi may often be about 1hr 15min, time to stretch legs, get prayer mat out etc. Also flight times; I quite like the 08.55 depart Gwick and return Bkok 20.25 times. Opportunity to bone up those episodes of Friends and Frasier to impress your UK girlfriends with the inflight choice.
