That is true, but they mostly live from guest arriving with large travel agencies. The big 3 travel agents in Germany all heavyly sell Sunbeam!

If Soi 2 meets your requirements for being central have a look at Sabai Lodge, meets all your requirements. Anyway, internet is a bit expensive, they charge 40 Baht for each 20 minutes to dial to loxinfo for example.

I remember Bay Breeze in Soi Honey some 3 years ago. At that time it was a real shit hole. Is the building newly renovated? Thanks.

btw, a friend stayed in Eastiny Place the same time and I know he had another TG everyday. He did not report anything on a joiner fee either (he definitely would have mentioned this when it were the case).

I just stayed in Eastiny Inn last week. No joiner fee, anyway, ladies have to register. Have not tried this out as I checked in my regular so she could also get the key without me. No problem either!

When I want a cheap hotel I always go for Intown Holiday in Soi Honey. In low season (that is when I always go) between 450 and 500. And.. rooms are not small!

That is their Xmas/New year rate. Start negotiating when you are there! It always helps.

Also, very often even if they confirm your booking they will not have it on file. You should take a printed copy of the mail with you, never had a problem to get the reserved room!

Agree with livermore, Pornping is a good choice. Will stay there end of October for 900 incl. Breakfast in a deluxe room (special promotion as the said). Another plus is Bubbles disco located in the basement of the hotel. Many good looking free lancers and massage girls looking for some extra money to be found there. The 100 Baht entrance fee - including one drink - is worth to be spent! Info on the hotel here.

I recommend the Pornping in Chiang Mai. Will stay there in October for 900/night. Very good hotel, in the basement they locate the Bubbles disco known for an enourmous of freelancers being there every night. You can also find massage girl which did not get an overnight job so far. More info here.

Try Intown, they quoted 500 for October. Excellent value for this low price!

Just around the corner in Soi Honey you will find Intown Holiday, same price, better rooms, more quiet (always ask for rooms to the back). Swimming pool on the roof, fridge with mini bar at reasonable prices. I paid 500 in April, 450 in July, they quoted 500 for October. Disadvantage: Breakfast not worth the 80 Baht they ask for, but breakfast is unbeatable at Apex (95 for the Buffet) anyway and it is only a 300m walk from Intown to Apex. So, no problem, or? I spent the last two New Years Eves in P., both times the city itself, especially Beach Rd. and Walking St, was crowded like hell. Cannot say too much about accomodation because both time I had a package deal - because it was cheaper incl. hotel than booking just a flight for my dates over Xmas and New Year - but a lot of hotels started advertising rooms already shortly after Xmas. That was particularly true for Soi 7/8 the last season.

Mike, and what is this please?: I did not know anything about the ScandiBar discount when I wrote the mail to them (which proves that even experienced Pattaya visitors like me don't know everything , that is why we have boards like this) but if I get an info from the hotel like this I go on to the next. There are enough!

These rates were offered to me as well but only if you buy a membership card which cost another 350 Baht/year. Not much, but I hate membership cards I have to pay for!

Try Intown Holiday in Soi Honey. Just a few steps to walk to Apex to have the breakfast buffet (not recommended at Intown). Same prices as Apex, anyway, in my opinion the better hotel. Pool at the roof (10th floor). Have stayed there 5 times already. Try to get a room to the back, as there are no bars etc., absolutely quiet. A lot of reviews can be found on OfBBoard, have a look at this: Topic Don't know prices at Xmas, believe around 650/700. I normally paid 450 in July or 500 in April. For October they quoted 500 as well.
