  1. Unfortunately I'm still 76 days away. Beach road at 4 in the morning... sounds like my kind of place.
  2. Thanks again Lemons. I'll surely say hi for you.
  3. What are they going to keep an eye on? Maybe they want to keep track of the construction progress (or lack there of).
  4. I think it looks like how I feel as my trip to LOS is getting closer.
  5. What part of Beach Road is under construction?
  6. Hey, thanks for the valuable feedback. I guess I'll continue to look into it before booking anything. For you guys that have used these small airlines around LOS and neighboring countries, what are my chances of just waiting until I get to LOS before booking my trip to Singapore? Would I be able to get a ticket with 2 week lead time durring late November? Thank again.
  7. For those interested. I did in fact book at Ma Maison. I am getting thier mini-suite for the 1100 baht. I hope it's worth it. Overall it looks to be a nice little place. Only thing I'm wondering now is, if I get there and feel I've made a bad choice, how easy would it be, mid Nov, to find another hotel. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Thanks for the input.
  8. Fasteddy, I am going to be in Pattaya for 3 weeks Nov 19 - Dec 10. I believe I'm going to book at Ma Maison. It looks very nice, and I agree with you, the food sounds good. I'm more leaning towards this smaller type hotel, with the resturant and all. Although I could be very wrong, for this is my FIRST trip to LOS, and I'm basing all my plans on a lot of luck and a prayer. I don't think they charge for guests either, from everything I've heard. I just sent them an email and asked if they do. I'll let you know what they say about guests.
  9. kutetee I did in fact check them out. They didn't have the flight times I need, plus they are more expensive. I found an even better deal with Air Asia for just under 4000 baht total, round trip. I think I'll book with them. Plus they had a greater variety of flight times to choose from. Thanks.
  10. Braggsaw, thanks for the feedback. I in fact did check Air Asia just now. I hadn't previously. They are the cheapest I've seen for BKK to Singapore. Thanks for the tip. I'm goint to go with them. For the short flight, I'm not that concerned with ammenities. I'd rather save the cash for sanuk. Again, thanks for the responce and guidance.
  11. Great suggestion marcortez. After seeing the devistation on the gulfcoast, you prompted me to finally book my ticket to LOS I'd been hoping the fare would drop a little further, but Katrina clinched the imposibility of fares dropping any more I think. In any case, I think I got a pretty good fare from what I've been seeing the last couple months. From Chicago to BKK, departure in mid-november, I got a $886 fare (KAL 3.5 hour stop-over in Seoul))on Travelocity. So, thanks for the "wake-up call" to get off my butt, and book my ticket. I"M COMIN' TO LOS!!!
  12. Has anybody ever flew with or have any feedback about Valuair or Jetstar Asia? I'm planning a short visit to Singapore while I'm in LOS, and these two airlines came up in my search. Fairly reasonable too, about 6100 baht round trip. Thai Air is looking for more than 10,000 baht round trip. Thanks.
  13. Does anyone have any experience with the Hillside resort? Any info or feedback? Thanks.
  14. Griffo, Sorry, I'm not going to be in LOS until November, but I had a question for you. Some time ago you inquired about the Hillside reort. Did you ever end up staying there? If so, what did you think. I'm thinking of booking 18 nights there. Let me know if you could. Thanks.
  15. forever, i'm not arriving until Nov, but I was wondering how and with who you made your arrangement for car to Pattaya for that early morning hour. I'm also arriving arround midnight, and was considering staying in BKK for the night due to the late hour. thanks.
  16. Ok. I'm having a hard time figuring out the relative location and distances of various hotels and such. Just trying to guage how far a walk would be from one place to the next. None of the maps I've looked at have a distance scale. Does anybody know what is the distance (miles or km) from North Pattaya Rd to Walking St? Thanks.
  17. Hey, thanks everybody for the feedback on Anna Jet. As Tafkamb said, I'll only sleep there, (and maybe entertain a lady or three) and don't see the need to spend a lot of money on "extras". But.... Davethailand makes a good point. Does Areca charge for bringing a TG back to your room?
  18. Good thread Jollyblaze. As I will be arriving (first visit to LOS also) on Nov 20, I am interested in the same things you mention. Weather, clothes, etc. I'll be needing to stay in BKK through the 27th, and then heading to Pattaya on Monday, 11/28 for two more weeks. Man I'll tell you I can't wait to get to the LOS. So it sounds as though it is a good idea to make hotel reservations, as the peak season is starting? I was wondering how Anna Jet is for accomodations. Anyboy know? I'm looking to spend around 20-25USD/day for hotel. Anyway, thanks everyone.
  19. I am currently getting roundtrip fares from Chicago to BKK, for a Nov trip, of around $1000-$1100 USD. www.cheaptickets.com Stops in Tokyo both ways, where I thought I might stay for a while. But a lot of P4P in Japan is dependent on whether they "accept" westerners. That sucks! Sorry, I digress. I''m wondering if these fares will go up or down between now and Nov. I'll probably shoot myself in the foot by waiting, and the fares will do nothing but go up between now and then. Are there seasonal fluctuations that are "typical" between now and then that I can take advanta
  20. Nov 16 this year. It's celebrated on the Full-Moon Day of the Twelfth Lunar Month. How's that for trivia? That sucks because I will not arrive until the following week. I really wanted to see all the cute TGs in their native dress. NiB
  21. I am encouraged by the great info from all of you that are living or have lived in LOS. I was just browsing the threads, and came across this very informative one. WOW I'm amazed at the reasonable cost of living there. I could retire, and actually have some fun. I'm not ready to retire quite yet, a few more years. I have not even visited LOS yet, but am planning three weeks later this year. BKK and Pataya. I know I'll have a good time, and probably meet a lot of good expats along the way. So, thank to all of you for the great cost of living info. I know it'll probably ch
