  2. Any recommendations for a good dentists in the Pattaya area for braces? Thanks ... zarusoba
  3. I was wondering if it is safe to plug a IPAD into an outlet? The reason I ask is because I plug my Japanese cell phone to charge it and it fried the phone. I do not want the same to happen to my IPAD. Please advise if possible. Thanks ... zarusoba
  4. In one year I will be living in Pattaya. I just need to know how I will be able to get mail from the States. Mail such as new ATM cards, new credit cards, bank statements, etc ... zarusoba
  5. Board members Happy New Years! Has anyone stayed at the All Seasons Hotel? From the pictures the place looks nice. All postive or negative replys would be great. Thanks ... zarusoba
  6. Thank you all for your inputs. They all make since. Looks like I'll first move to Thailand in 4 years. Rent a place for 6-8 months while looking for a place to buy ... zarusoba
  7. Would any of you entertain the option of buying a nice condo for 2M baht but only being able to stay in it 1-2 times a year for the next 4 years? I do have an American friend that lives in Pattaya that could check the condo now and then. The place is in a gated community. How would a person winterize the place for months at a time? What about keep the water on, electricity on, etc….. Any suggestions … zarusoba
  8. I'm sorry but I'm not rich like everyone else in the world. My budget for a hotel is between 1000-1500 baht respectfully. I'm stationed in the USAF and my base pay is not much. I stayed there once for 4 days right when the place opened and found it for a discount of only 1300 baht. Now it is over 3000 baht! Trust me it is a nice hotel but it's way out of my price range now ... zarusoba
  9. Does anyone know how long of a walk it is from Piyada residence to Walking Street? Is a motor bike taxi necessary? One more thing, I always feel safe walking the streets of Pattaya but I'm not familar with the area the Piyada is in. Will it be safe to walk at night/early morning ... zarusoba
  10. My friend and I have booked Piyada Residence for the Christmas week. I'll give you a full TR when I get back. Sorry that it is not unitl December ... zarusoba
  11. Thanks for the replies. I was just thinking outside of the box. My idea was that the car was paid off and that would have been one less bill I have to deal with when I'm living in Thailand. I was looking at the prices of used cars in Thailand and they were expensive. So on to plan B ... WALK ... LOL!
  12. Board Members, Maybe a silly question but let me present it to you all. I'm stationed in Japan and will retire in 5 years from Japan. My question is how much would it cost to ship a vehicle to Thailand and get it registered? This vehicle is RH drive and is not a sports car or luxury car. It is just a nice small car that gets great gas miles. I'm thinking that it would be cheaper to send a vehicle and have it registered instead of buying one. Maybe I'm crazy? zarusoba
  13. What some great pictures. #9 is hot! Going to have to get with her when I get back in May. By that time she will probably be already gone ! I wonder how much she wants for a tip?
  14. I booked two nights with Majestic Suites (Bangkok) for 10 Oct -12 Oct. The manager has been very responsive with other questions I have had throughout the last 2 months. I even emailed MJ yesterday for another reservation for a friend that decided at the last minute to go to Thailand and MJ already replied with confirmation #. The price is 1350 baht a night for superior standard room. I've stayed there before for 2 days in February with no complaints. It is one of those hotels that is harder to get to. Best bet is to have the taxi driver drop you off at the Nana Plaza Hotel parking lot and wal

Everyone has been very helpfull. I will continue to plan for my future long term stay in Thailand, Pattaya. I will always remember this famous quote "The best laid scehmes of Mice and Men will always go amiss." So plan "B" is still a work in progress. More to come. Thanks once again ... zarusoba!

    Retiring

Now with all of the crack down on VISA stays in Thailand. What are the rules for retiring there? I will be in my early 40's when I will retire. Bottom line is how can I live in Thailand by the rules?

    Money

Now I'm not sure what to do with my house in the States. I pay a Real Estate company 10% of the rent so they are making $70 a month on me. My mortgage is only $563 and I pay $600 a month. The extra, if you want to call it extra $37 is going towards principle. So I make only $30 a month. I’ve been that there are great tax breaks for renting a house. I’m going to have a CPA do my taxes this year because of being stationed in Korea/Japan 2007. What do you all think? Zarusoba!

    Money

All of the board members are correct about my situation. I just see all of those nice houses over there and would love to have it. I will continue to save my money and figure it out in 6 years when in hit 20 years in the U.S. military. Thanks ... zarusoba!

    Money

My burning question is this members. How do people buy homes/condos with cash only? The houses/condos I like are between $75,000-$140,000. I'm saving as much money as I can monthly and have only $30,000 saved. The U.S. military pay is not that of the civilain sector. I want to retire from the military in 6 years and I see myself as only having about $80,000 saved up. So once again where does everyone get their money to buy a house/condo straight out? Do they get a mortage loan, have a great civilain job or what? If I found a nice place in the Pattaya area I would not have to worry about a hous
  21. Looks nice put too expensive for me ... zarusoba!
  22. Will try the other email account. Thanks ... zarusoba!
  23. Thanks a lot FatherMojo. Great report on the detail of the hotel. Sounds like a good place to lay my head at! I'll give them a couple of more days and then I'll call them to make the reservation. So on a scale of 1-10 what would you rate? Ten being the best ... zarusoba
