Areca Lodge have asked me to pay a 3,000BHT deposit which I guess is ok - didnt happen last time - but they want me to fax a form over, with my credit card details AND a photocopy of my credit card, including the 3 digit security code. Is this normal? Im paranoid about my credit card floating around like that. Thoughts?

I stayed at the Areca in late October 05. It was a pleasent stay, the room was decent sized, staff friendly enough. Had no dramas with the room itself. My only concern was the counter staff's insistence I pay for phone cards and internet by cash and not charge it to the room, always the hustle I guess. Security was good, a TG didnt have her i.d - she wasnt allowed in, simple as that. Internet was pretty shoddy most of the time but seriously it isnt an issue if your jus checking the odd email or the board. Highly recommended. I didnt have trouble crossing 2nd road all that much. Might stay there in April or might venture to another spot.

Id highly recommend this service. Sorry I didnt comment sooner but Ive been busy since getting back to Australia in early Nov. Excellent service, Jan was awesome. Will use again in April.

Ive booked Areca Lodge - the reviews seem ok and from what I understand its close to the action. I got a Deluxe room, best available, any thoughts or comments? DB

Hi Everyone Great forum, thanks for the heads up on all the excellent info. I am venturing into Pattaya for the first time this October. I have been told that BKK has nothing on Pattaya so I am ready to experience all it has to offer. I was told that the Hard Rock Hotel is good but no so guest friendly. Any essential tips from you regulars? Should I go straight to Pattaya or stay in BKK first. Im looking at 4 days (over a weekend) in Pattaya, is this enough? Is there anything I should or shouldnt miss. Sorry for all the questions, any response is greatly appreciated. Cheers
