Improving Loxinfo Dialup Speed

While stiill waiting for TT&T to drop by and install ADSL at my house in Jomtien, I still use Loxinfo Dial Up, the 63 hour Card.

I tried a few other companies' cards before, but they were all a total mess.

Now, it seemed to me that in the last month the Speed on Loxinfo was deteriorating. What once was fairly quick, seemed to take longer and longer since some time.

I made some checks recently, and found out that most of the waiting time once you click on a link is not so much the times it takes to transfer the content data, it is the time the DNS Server takes to answer.

So, yesterday, when the DNS Server was at its slowest I have seem for a long time (time outs for 2 out of 3 attempts, it was practibably unusable) I tried out a trick:

I manually overrid the DNS Server setup, using my former home provider's one instead.

I am probably lucky that they do not discriminate my use, as they easily could do by checking the IP adresses from the clients using this service. )

It works like charm, the waiting for the Page to load is much much shorter!

It also seems to eliminate the Censorship Thai Authorities impose over the Internet!
