I've been logged out perhaps a dozen times since first logging on today, about two hours ago.

I have not installed anything or in any way changed my sys or net configs since my previous session.

Any clues?

do you use asianet? if so, there is a bug in the new chaching software that has problems with cookies and cached content. if you are using another provider it still could be something similar. you could try to use the following proxy and see if that solves the issue, then you know for sure

200.110.107.155 on port 3128

it is not a fast proxy but at least it would tell you if the problem is your provider or something else.

you could also try to completely clear your local chache and cookies directory once and see if that is changing anything.

It probably is not a problem at the server site as I can access it like usual and do not get logged out.

try teh above even if the tip comes from me :eyecrazy

I've been using the Loxinfo 300 hr pack, which I find quite reliable.

BUT I generally use the AsiaAccess 30+5 day pack, which allows unlimited access. Only problem is I haven't been able to connect with the last one I bought 3 or 4 days ago (username/password error each time), which is why I've been accessing with Loxinfo these past days. Confused yet?

So, if AsiaAccess is the same as AsiaNet (with the caching problem), that explains why it hasn't been connecting. Will try a general clearout and see if that does the trick.

Many thanks.

asianet and asiaaccess adre 2 different providers. but in the past there have been fake packages of almost all providers in circulation, did you ever manage to log on with your new asiaacess username/password? if not, try to call their hotline and let them check if the username even exists.

the problem with the caching is more like that: on some sites you will never get the updated version of the sites, on some site you will only get the main page updated and the links will still lead to old content.

Have a look at bkktonight, there have been a few asianet customers who had problems with the board and PM there becuase of this problem (including me).

But it has nothing to do with the username/password for log on to the network itself.

if you are using IE youcould also try (just to see if it makes any difference) to download firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

I logged into AsiaAccess site (via Loxinfo) to check the usage on my 30-day pack, and according to the results that username/password does exist though it is as yet unused, which indicates it is at least a genuine pack.

I have now sent them an email, and hopefully the matter will be resolved, but I really must get around to organising a stable, permanent, and hopefully faster unlimited service.

Many tx for your help.

PS: btw, tried to download (with DAP) firefox from that url, but seems it is an html file...no problem though, picked it up (an older version) from download.com. Will give it a fair run purely on your rec, but I've been using IE for so long now that it's become habit.

yeah, most people use IE becuase it is allready there when you install windows. but once you get used to firefox (or opera as well) - you most likely won't go back :chogdee

where in thailand are you? Pattaya? if so - do you have a tt&t line or tot line?

leemo,

I'll join forces with cybers1b and urge you (and anyone who cares reading this) strongly to start using either Mozilla Firefox (I believe current version is 0.9.0.3) or the free version of Opera (7.5).

Forget about the IE: if the MS for once does as announced and makes it at least reasonably secure, it won't happen during the next 12 months.

Trouble with the IE is that it takes the control away from you and hands it over to the Internet, in a way. Furthermore, as its code grew bigger through the years, it got full of programming mistakes which allow outside access to your PC's resources.

Don't forget a proper firewall (Kerio or ZoneAlarm are OK and freeware) and an anti-virus program with regular updates of the virus-database (Avast is a nice free one). 2guns

Everything I mentioned is freeware, stable and pretty good. :D :D

Take care of your PC - it is your privacy, after all.

Over to anyone who cares to add something to the list. Cheers

Sounds good enough for a run; will get onto the case right away.

Pattaya, with a ToT line. I believe they're pushing a decent web package, but last time I asked it was not available for numbers beginning with 2. Come to think of it this was more than 4 months ago and the guy did say it should be available for 2s within 3-6 months, so will pop in to see them later this week.

Side note: The manager did give me a '1222' access number (same as AsiaAccess) with username "U89$0y)9" and password "j4**9c+p". Apparently this account is for general use by all ToT customers, ok for general browsing but sometimes it runs so sssloooww on downloads that I only use it in emergencies. Charges are: First 2 hours free, then 3 bt / hr.
