Can I buy insulin syringes in Thailand

Recommended Posts

Can I obtain insulin syringes in Thailand?

I'm not sure what the laws are regarding syringes.

I could bring syringes with me from the USA but I hate to have anything in my luggage that subjects me to questions and extra attention from the authorities at the airport when I'm leaving the USA.

A note from your Dr. and put then with the note and business card with your "medical devices", and you should be fine. Also photocopy the note, if you have to go to a clinic in Thailand.

The key is to put them into check in luggage.

You can usually buy anything over the counter in thailand, only hard core prescription drugs and sleeping pills are a little hard to get.

1. You are allowed to travel with diabetes syringes in the aircraft cabin. Take what you need for the journey and pack the remainder in your hold baggage.

2. You will need to carry your insulin in the cabin - the tempatures inside the hold would degrade it - so it would seem stupid to explain the insulin and not take syringes.

3. Call ahead and warn the airline about your diabetes and the supplies you need to carry - you would need to advise them of your dietary requirements anyway.

4. Bring a letter from your doctor explaining your need to carry syringes/injection devices and insulin.

5. Have a copy of your prescription.

All the supplies you need should be readily avaiable in thailand at about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the US. but just to be sure it would be nice if one of the boardies that is going to LOS in the next few weeks would stop by a pharmacy and check. Why don't you post up what you would need(exact description) and see if someone will be generous enough to do investigation for you.

I checked on some scripts for other people in LOS. Fosamax 70mg pills was 2000 baht for 12. That compares to 6000 baht on the US. I have inquired at pharmacy and clinics. Winsterol, adriol, testoterone, HGH, clomid, and many other items are avilable althought sometimes items like the fosomax 70mg or HGH has to be ordered and it takes 2 or 3 business days. Most drugs come from US, UK or china. Prices are usually sunstantially less than US. :nod :D

Prices are usually substantially less than US.

Prices also can vary greatly from pharmacy to pharmacy. While in Bangkok over the weekend I stopped at the pharmacy on Sukhumvit just E. of Soi 11 and asked for a few items. Asking price 800 baht :nod

I immediately headed for the door ignoring his plea of "discount". Walked down to KS Pharmacy which is just before Soi 17 and Robinson's and got the same items for 450 baht :D It's my feeling that generally pharmacy prices are lower in Bangkok than Pattaya.

I bought heart meds for 1/6 the price as in the USA. Cholesterol statins and BP meds.

You can get excellent stuff for treating the common cold, and the coughing thats associated with it, ask for the "green pills" (tussin tablets). Its better and longer lasting than that crappy cough syrup they sell here.
