I went there last year around that time, full on high season, and chinese news years,as a combo. I paid 600 baht a night.

All my quotes were for long stays of 1 month, which will get a discount. Also try the intown inn, or even the honey inn, or ice inn. DO NOT go to the Apex.

Baybreeze website, also for reservation information.

I`ve reserved a room at 700bt/night plus 200baht surcharge for the 3 days over the new year.

My mate stayed there 6 weeks back and was very happy with it.

Any views/tips on the bay breeze would be appreciated

I turned up at the Apex on christmas day last year about 7pm having reserved a room 6 months prior, only to be told that they were over booked.

There is a nice little place for breakfast just out the door and to right. I think it is called the Queen Vic or something like that. Also the massage place, again out the door and to the right but on the opposite side of the Soi, does a good job. The back building and rooms are done out in teak. The Bay Breeze restaurant has decent thai food and good sandwiches. Just around the corner, past the 7-11 on 2nd road, is a decent Internet/coffee shop.

Enjoy.

I stay there all the time, if you go out to 2nd road, and turn left and walk past the apex, and go past soi diana inn (be careful crossing there) there is Kiss Food and Drink, that place is Good, Cheap and fast (sometimes). I usually eat there every day.

For a massage, exit the hotel, turn right and walk up the street and go to Soi buakow, then turn left. There is a place called Kims massage, all older ladies for a traditional massage. No funny stuff, just a real massage, for 150bt an hour. It is across the sawasdee hotel, (across the street).

The other places as you walk up soi honey inn are combo massage/beerbars (not good for a real massage)

Baybreeze tips, 30 to 40 baht a day on the pillow for the maid, she will leave you as many towels as you request. Your room will be more cleaner than normal.

rooms near the middle of the hotel are quieter, dont choose a room with the adjoining door, you may get a bad neighbor thats loud or deaf, or smokes. The rooms at the back are quiet.

There is a resturant that is for Thais across the street next to the bank, they will charge you double of what a thai pays, look for the rainbow metal awning. Not recomended!

Gokies and uncle charlies restaurant is good to eat at.

Internet cafe just down the street(towards soi buakow)

livermore, ting tong, thanks a lot for passing on your knowledge of the place.

Will definitely try out Kims massage and the one livermore finds good.

I`ve been told to give Uncle Charlies a try by my mate, can not remember what he told me, think it was something to do with a special menu on tuesdays and thursdays.

Cheers.

It's been over a year since I ate there, but it's likely that at Uncle Charlies Bar and Coffee Shop it's business as usual. It's across the soi from the Bay Breeze Hotel. If you walk past it in the morning, all you will see is the ubiquitious rusty, rolled-down, steel door. It doesn't have much farang business other than the two steak days.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting around 1800, Uncle Charlies offers large (16oz?) T-bone or porterhouse steaks with baked potatoe, corn-on-cob, roll and salad. A plate of Isarn food for your date is best secured from next door. The proper accompaniments are supplied: sour cream, butter, chopped chives, bottles of condiments, etc.

Uncle Charlie (passed on in '95) was an American Vietnam vet who went to Bangkok to buy tender and tasty steaks for his shophouse restaurant. His widow Gokie carried on the tradition of serving quality grilled steaks. Expats patronizing Uncle Charlies add to the ambiance with talk of local doings. Gokie's second husband Tony the cop, who passed on a year or two ago, seemed to invigorate the business. His passing left Gokie comfortably off with a house, car, and money. Hopefully, Gokie's personal financial success will not have a deleterious effect on her business - providing the best and biggest grilled steaks in Pattaya.

BTW after a few years of reading FLB threads, IMO most of the members would consider the Bay Breeze Hotel too far removed from the action.

I've eaten at Uncle Charlie's a few times. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the nights to go. Tony passed away about 15 months ago. Good guy, I miss him.

I had a hamburger there for lunch one day(uncle charlies) and was surprised that when I used a napkin to press out the grease, almost none came out?

Gokie just remodeled the place, now there is a bar for the guys to hang out.

Once again, the thai restaurant next door practices double pricing, avoid that place!

Papa, I like to stay a short stroll away from the main action areas and not dirctly in them.

The only trouble is crossing 2nd road and thats from somebody who is relatively fit and fast on foot.

Uncle Charlies and the massage places ting tong and livermore recommend will save me a few scary crossings.

Ting tong, could you tell me if the position of the pool in the bay breeze allows it to get a lot of sunlight and is it usually busy?

Cheers.

When I was there, it was not too busy, there are a few (3) nice lounge chairs.

Make sure you get your sun before 12:00 to 1:00 because it gets shaded after that.

The pool is small, and like any pool in Pattaya, dont get the water in your ears.

I always wanted to go to mike mall shopping center pool on the top of the building, anybody go there?

All I know is the kids spit from the top deck to people walking below

Hello.

I've stayed at 7 hotels in Pattaya and Bay Breeze has been my number one choice the last 9 visits.

For me, it's ideally situated and good value.

I like to walk.

Out the door, turn left, cross second road and there you have a beerbar ccmplex.

22 minutes walk to Electric Blue gogo, the last gogo on Walk Street.

Out the door, left, then turn right on second road and Sois 9,8,7 are only 7-8 mins walk.

Another 8 mins or so further on to Soi6. Or 2 mins on a baht bus.

5 or 6 mins more to Sois 3,2,1 and BigC.

Out the door, turn right and 6 mins or so to Soi Buakhao and a number of 30 baht per hour internet places.

About 5 laundry places within 150 metres of hotel.

Went to the pool top of Mikes mall with my special lady March last year.

A large pool and very pleasant. Not a lot of shade. Some very nice eye candy.

Great view.

That will do.

chico, walkin' the dog,grrrrrrrrrr :D
