I am told it is on the other side of Budda hill somewhere by the Royal Cliff Resort. The actual address is 437 Phra Tamnak Road but you can find all in info at http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/sea...propertyID=1549

As to being guest friendly I would guess yes. I have been taking ladies into the Sheraton in Bangkok for years with no problem so assume it will be just the same in Pattaya. However the only way to really know is try. It opens on 1st August and I am booking in on the 9th so will report back then <laugh

I was talking with a guy i know last night who's brother is the boss/ owner there, no BS he is the guy who bought the franchise rights to use the name.

It is not part of the Sheraton group, (it is'nt owned at all by the Sheraton group) and from what i've seen (only the outside so far) its gonna be very nice.

It only has 180 rooms and he promises that it will knock spots off of The Royal Cliff etc, Another friend went there last week for dinner although its not open yet for a special dinner party for the owner, special guests etc, This guy himself owns alot of property including a famous restaurant here in pattaya and he said its spectacular. the decor furniture etc is beautiful etc etc.

He is setting up another dinner party which i am going to so i'll fill you in when I know more. :chogdee2

The new Sheraton hotel in Pattaya is scheduled to open in the first weeks of Augustus, they only had a soft opening for special and/or invited guests to train the staff, so very difficult to give any more information than what you can find on their website.

The hotel is situated on it's own beach, in-between Pattaya and Jomtien and is more build as a family club resort, for Bangkok Thais and foreign visitors, with it's own restaurants and beach-activities, than the typical Sheraton hotels for independent travelers such as in Bangkok and Phuket.

Hence knowing the above you will have to take your chance on the guest-friendly topic until reports appear from members staying there. But being also aimed at Thai Bangkok families, I would have my doubts.

The location is ideal for beach-gurus and daytime oriented tourists, but not so much for tourists who love the nightlife, as the hotel is not situated on the Song-Taew (local baht bus taxis) routes, and demands going up to Phratamnak hill, then descending to the private bay of the Sheraton Hotel.

Taxi transport is required for any trip to and from the Sheraton this in contrary to many other hotels on Pattaya Beach, which are simply located in the center of the beach, shopping and nightlife activities.

Cheers,

davethailand,

That is pretty standard for most large hotels these days. Somebody owns the property and somebody else like (in this case) starwood, accor or 6 seasons run the place on a management contract which obviously results in lower costs in relation to marketing, suppliers etc. On the flip side of the coin it releases the hotel groups from having their cash tied up in the property market.
