Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

How much discount should we be looking at on average for a 2 week to one month stay in a hotel? Say for example the price per night is 1000 Baht how much should you negotitate for a 2, 3 or 4 week stay and do they do it (mid-August). I assume they do in low season.

I've seen some guys say they get a month in RG for 12000 which seems quite a big discount to me

Some hotels on soi 7 & 8 have stay for 14 and pay for 10 during low season. I always negotiate with the manager and not the staff at the front desk. Manager knows what his occupancy rate is and has the authority to cut prices. Even with hotels I don't like to overpay.

Hi stamboy,12000 is cheap for rg it must have been low season.Like bigd says talk to the manager if possible also for shorter stays you can get some deals with nights thrown in.

As for 3 weeks a lot of hotels will be cheaper to pay for a month rather than nightly for 21 days. i.e. the place i stayed last time was 700 a night so 21 nights would be 14700 but you can get a monthly rate of 7000 a month plus about 1000 to 1500 on electric +water.

Thanks for the tip last week bigd (enter button as easy as that lol )<grin

My experience is they will cut 10-15% in the blink of an eye.

Some places encourage longer stays at a discount (western thinking) while others won't budge from the daily price (LoS thinking) and will lose a potential 3-week occupant.

Just ask and if they don't want to discount then go next door, lots of hotels and in the end what do you really do there? I have found the level of service and amenities samesame at 500-550 as at 750-800 a night. Do the math and its a free ST every 2nd day.

I've never stayed at the RG, but recall seeing a 30K monthly rate here on the board. The last 2 places that I've stayed offered monthly rates that were equal to 10 days stay. However these monthly rates required you to pay water and electric plus you only received free daily housekeeping once a week. Just went with OnMYWay yesterday to a place that gave him a monthly rate of 8K per month which included daily cleaning, water and electric. He does have to pay electric on A/C as it is metered seperate. I also negoiated one free barfine a month from the owner on one of her TG's. :clap2

I lived in an hotel for a year that was Bt400 per day but Bt10,000 per month which equates to a 17.8% reduction.

I reckon the Soi 8 rates of 14 for 10 or 7 for 5 are reasonable value but they are on their full rates. In effect, they are not discounting their rates in low season.

The RG was Bt30,000 for the month a couple of years ago when I stayed there but it may well be the same today as their other rates have not gone up.

You can get some places for Bt6000 to Bt12000 for the month but you will get what you pay for.

I would consider a condo if here for a month or thereabouts. I know you have to do some cleaning yourself but unless you are the sort to trash the place, you are your own boss. For Bt15000 per noth you can get somehere really good and better than the Yensabai.

Emil,

do they have a sign outside advertising the free BF for extended stay?

great marketing ploy! :cry1

No, I was just BSing with the Thai lady who is married to a Brit who owns the place. Mark and Soi 7 had already got her to come down from the 9K a month to 8K a month because he was staying for 3 months when I brought up the 1 free BF a month for this little cutie who we had been flirting with and she agreed. :D
