In-asia low-cost airlines around peak season?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at a trip (with the farang wife, so avoiding Pattaya for this one) around peak season late Dec/early Jan ... been able to get free tix into Singapore on miles... altough I may be able to switch them into Bangkok, I hadn't expected it to be a problem, as there are several low-cost airlines flying SIN-BKK and SIN-Phuket... right?

Hadn't expected it to be a problem, but it seems I can't find any tickets for that period... anyone know whether the issue is:

A) I'm looking too far in advance

or

:D They're sold out already

...and ideally, how I tell which?

Any other options for getting from Singapore to either Phuket or Samui, then to Bangkok, and then back to Singapore?

mister handy,

You're simply looking too far in advance at the moment for booking on a LCC.

The simplest way to check whether that is the case or whether the flight is full is to pull up the airline schedule rather than try to make a booking.

Obliged! Any sense of when I should start looking for that period?

mister handy,

Most schedules at the moment are up to the end of summer daylight saving time at the end of October. I would assume therefore the winter schedules should be available within the next 4-6 weeks.

I finally looked at the schedules and saw that they were up to 10/29... I'll keep a close eye. Thanks again!

misterhandy,

Thai AirAsia is now booking through until the end of March 2006.

Prices from/to Singapore are from 230 Baht each-way plus the add-on taxes etc.

Tom

Thanks... looks like they and Tiger are selling... need to get the hotel plans firmed up and then buy the tickets before the cheap seats are gone.

That's extremely cheap, less than the cost of a mini van from Pattaya to BKK.

Well, the taxes account for a lot more and the cheapest seats are limited... but it's still very not bad: about US $30 including the taxes, from Singapore to Bangkok... which is about the same as a taxi ride Bangkok Airport to Pattaya (and using hotel arranged cars I seem to always end up paying 1500 baht)
