World Athletics Championships

Recommended Posts

Just sorting out my bets for the athletics over the next week. At the moment I have pencilled in Wariner (400m), Felix (200m), Radcliffe (marathon) and Kluft (heptathlon) but I need one more at a decent price for my accumulator. At the moment I can get 11/1 for the french guy, Pognon, in the 100m with Catlin removed from the field. Any guys out there, especially the Yanks, who have a bit of an insight as to who else is hitting form or decent tips/fancies?

What's happened to all the world's athletes anyway? It's really disconcerting looking at some of the fields and not recognising the majority of athletes listed. 2guns

Thanks,

Tom

p.s. Don't mention the tart in the pole vault! 2guns You can't get a price on her over here.

Men's Field

Clement - 400 Hurdles

I'd skip Wariner. He didn't even win the US National Championship this season. Then again, stay with him if he's in form.

Women's Field

Bergqvist - High Jump

Lebedeva - Triple Jump

Pechonkina - 400 Hurdles

Richards - 400

Perry - 100 Hurdles

I'm not sure who Pognon is, but if it's the men's 100, I think Gatlin is still in. I'd skip this race entirely if in a parlay. It'll be wide open! Don't forget Powell from Jamaica set the world record earlier this season.

echster,

I went with Wariner purely because Michael Johnson gave him a huge build up on the BBC at last year's Olympics and he ran away from the field at one of the European Grand Prix events a couple of weeks ago.

The Felix girl I went with cos she's kinda cute and can run a bit! :cry2

Kluft and Radcliffe are just too far ahead of the others in their particular events so I have assumed that they will go to form. That said, Radcliffe has a dismal record in the major championships compared to "what might've been".

Pognon beat Catlin in Rome a couple of weeks ago and is a very fast French 60m runner who is only now reaping the benefit of a decent training regime (I think he is from Martinique). These Championships may be a year early for him but the price is decent enough even if he runs second to Catlin.

Thanks for the women with the funny names ...... I'll have a look at them tomorrow.

Regards,

Tom
