Having recently searched various ticket agents for tickets from the UK to Thailand I have seen an airline called Air Astana at remarkable good prices for the peak Christmas period.

On searching the web they seem to be based out of Kazakhstan, and the flight is 1 stop via there with just a 2 hour stopover.

Any one ever heard of them or more importantly ever tried them?

Or could it be a case of you get what you pay for, i.e. £400 to £500 for peak Christmas time as opposed to £800 or more for the "decent" airlines?

Would be very interested in hearing from anyone who recommends them, or not.

Looks like a good deal from London. I like flying from Birmingham and there are quite a few airlines from there flying to BKK via some country or other. Quite a few fly via the former Soviet States but a few travel agents won't deal with them because of I don't know!! Might be realibility, commission etc.. These airlines offer good fares, good connections and newish aircraft. You can even flight from Birmingham to BKK via Iran on Mahan Air, price was not bad and even that a 30kg baggage limit for economy....

I have flown on Turkmenistan earlier this year very good except for, no entertainment, and crap food but what the hell i was saving £150 which added to my holiday fund!!

You pays your money, you takes your choice???????

Ranger,

they were coming up on www.opodo.co.uk

I managed to get as far as putting the flight into the shopping basket. But when I clicked onto check-out, the system kept on saying there had been an error. I emailed Opodo about this but they never replied.

Then 1 day later I noticed that the flight was no longer on the site. Guess it had previously gone and they had not taken it off.

Oh well, I will have to keep on looking.

If you look at www.etours-flights.com Astana still come up on their list. However if you try and book the flight it says "not available".
