Grace hotel Bangkok soi 3, whats it like ?

Recommended Posts

What a shit hole - sorry but it is true. Used to have some validity for the Grace disco in the basement but with early closing in Bangers, that is pretty pointless now.

Full of Arabs and you have to run the gauntlet of the Africans and others of questionable repute when you head back at night from Nana. I'd change hotels if i were you.

People like Grace Hotel because of the reasonable price. It's a surreal experience I'm sure, and that may appeal to you. There is plenty of arab food around and even african. They have a bowling alley, belly dancers, massages, snooker, coffee shop, etc. The Egyptian restaurant on the street level is very very good. I've never stayed at the Grace Hotel. If you want a surreal experience, then try it out. :)

Why do people post posts asking questions about Bangkok?

Last time i looked this site was called Pattaya Talk(with a mouth and tongue in between)

Pattaya 5-0 Bangkok

If you can change hotels then I should.

Options: priceline.com you can get sukhumvit 5* good price.

Dynsaty and Swiss Grottino get good reviews for mid class, also Magestic suites.

cancel your booking at Grace and check out BKK hotel reviews :chogdee2

Grace Hotel is fine, I used it for donkeys years and thanks to misinformed people slagging the place off easy to book and never need reservations.

Rooms on a par with the Nana and as with the Nana always tarts hanging about the reception area etc, good security and ID's etc checked and the security guard phones you when the bird leaves to see if all is ok if that sort of thing worries you.

What the misinformed know alls don't tell you is that falangs are put in the wing directly above the reception and the Arabs go in the wing by the bowling alley.

But as always look for yourself and don't rely on the opinion of people who haven't a clue :chogdee2

I agree, Grace is fine. If everything else is full, it's usually available. Rooms are okay, as ROLAND says, on a par with the Nana (or even the Ambassador). The location is good, just a short walk thru the back to get to Gulliver's or Soi 7. There's a really good kebab place just down the street out the front, and my favorite massage place for a straight massage is across the street (Bangkok Health Spa).

The clientele might be more Arab and African than farang, but they've never ever bothered me, and if there is a terrorist attack in Bangkok, it's the safest place to be. :chogdee2

instead of grace try europark hotel soi 1 1000 baht and much better atmosphere unless you want the bowling aley etc. :D :D

The little Euro Park "serviced apartment" Hotel is where I always stayed too in Bangkok. It has a cute little pool and very very quality rooms for the price I was paying 700-800B (years ago). It's way down soi 1, but the motorbikes are only 5B when I was staying. It's sort of a little hidden gem maybe.

Thanks Roland and MM

The hotel i normally stay in is the Nana inn on soi 3 which is directely opposite the Grace. I do not mean the other Nana hotel which is near Nana Plaza, I have never stayed in that Nana hotel so I dont know what it is like however the Nana Inn I have stayed in is really shit, ive had lots of rooms with no window. I cant see that the Grace can be worst.

I choose to stay on Soi3 because I like to play pool in The Bamboo beer bar which is on Soi 3 and almost opposite the Grace Hotel.

I took a look at that Nana inn last time I was in BKK and it is shit, I can't imagine why you'd stay there.

I found the Grace Hotel, soi 3 rooms to be better than the Nana, Soi 4. The food was good and plenty of TGs in the coffee shop at midnight. Good security and friendly staff also. There are a lot of Arabs and families there but no joiner fee.

Quiet and convenient location. I stayed there in March, 05. 1000 bht/night.

I have to agree with Roland's assessment here - I stayed at the Grace for the first time last March, as I was with a friend who has been staying there for years, and he got us rooms on the 8th floor (elevator to 7th, walk up from there) above reception - he told me the same thing, they save them for farangs. It was quiet, the room was nice enough with a view, and in 5 days I never even saw or heard any other guests on that floor other than us. The rate we paid was 950 a night - good value in that area.

Downsides? It is a big and busy hotel with lots of turnover, so the front desk can be pandemonium at check-out time. The Arabic guests totally ignored us, although I saw one put on a fine performance with a front desk clerk one day...screaming and hollering at her and making a total ass of himself. Also the taxi touts in the parking lot can be a pain in the ass - they even harrass you on the way into the hotel - like I need a cab when I am going to my room.

I never did go down to the coffee shop or disco, although I have in previous years when not staying there. It used to be quite interesting around 4:00am or so before they started this early closing time crap. And yes, always a few tarts hanging around...my buddy likes them a little on the chubby side(like the Arabs :cry1 ) and finds plenty to pick from there. As he puts it himself, depending on your interests you could spend a whole week having fun and doing lots of things without even leaving the hotel...

I would stay there again if I could get a room on that floor.
