Land purchase and residential build

My brother, who works in Pattaya, and myself, a twice a year visitor, are considering some land purchase and residential house self builds. Part for development and part for self use. Have any of you out there done the same? Would love to hear about your thoughts. Please note, there is no TG involved.

 

Last year I found a link to pages of a guy who was doing a house build in Thailand, included many pictures and commented on the potential pitfalls, unfortunately I cant seem to find it again...was it any of you?
