I've read about the Thai Airways Limo Service, 1500 Baht from BKK Airport to Pattaya with new Mercedes cars.

Anybody used this before ? Do i need a reservation or can i just walk to the counter and order the car ?

I know, for the same price i get a taxi or i can use the bus even cheaper, but having a hassle free service is more important to me.

I used them last year in April. The cars are very nice and the servíce good. I don't remember exactly, but I definately paid more than 1500 baht. I think it was more like 2500 baht.

In the past I used them exclusively. Their mini bus service for 200 baht when I arrived around noon and the car at 1500 baht when I arrived around midnight. I no longer fly with the airline that got me into Bangkok around noon and I have heard that they discontinued this service. I stopped using their car service back around 2004 when they almost doubled their price and I've got to thank them for the price increase as I looked around and found not only a better service but one that was cheaper than 1500. :chogdee2 Before I would have to waste time going to their desk and sometimes having to wait about 15 minutes until a driver was available, now I have a driver waiting with my name on a board and off we go.

I used the Thai Limo service on New Years Eve having landed at around 9pm.

The charge for the run to Pattaya was 2000 Baht which you pay in the terminal building.

At the desk I was shown a photo of a fairly new mercedes. When we got to the vehicle it was a ten year old Volvo :drunk

Once we got going the driver asked me if I wanted to go on the express way! Sure I replied, to which the driver requested another 200 baht for the tolls

Knowing that I had been conned, I kept quiet and never argued the point because the clock was ticking and I wanted to be in Pattaya before midnight.

On arrival in Pattaya the driver wanted to first check in at his firms branch office on Second Road :sh However, I told him he could do that after taking me to my hotel near Walking Street.

At my hotel, I thanked him for the safe drive took my bag and left him without a tip as in my opinion the service I received fell short of what I expected.

Not really but we constantly get people posting here and elsewhere about costs rising and service deteriorating ( the twats at the airport now try and fleece you for Bt2k and then sometimes try to fuck you over for the tolls) but people do nothing. People complain here but not to those who give the shit service.

Oh, its only a few dollars and I'm on holiday. Next time oh, its only a shit old car. Next tim, oh, its only another 10 dollars. When are people going to reward the shit service with no more business and go elsewhere instead of putting up and then bleating all over the internet about it ?

Thats my point.

Mr Toom sounds like a good bargain at 1200 total which is about 200 less than what I've been paying. I don't know but he sounds like a one man operation so if he gets too popular you could run into problems. I'm not familiar with how he operates but make sure he has your flight details in case your flight is delayed. I was delayed 3 hours on my January trip and when I arrived at 3 AM my driver was waiting as they were aware of the delay.

Emil

I have booked Mr toom for my 25th April arrival after reading many glowing reports not only on this board. If you notice some reports from other members do indeed praise this service and many in fact point out that mr toom was not their driver but another polite Thai and in fact on one occasion the driver was a "Lady".

i should be so lucky. :chogdee2
