I saw a post where someone flew into Singapore.. then took a low cost discount airline from Singapore to LOS...

I am leaving from Seattle and cant seem to find a great deal. If gas prices stay up, then airline prices may also rise even more. That would ruin my fun!

Has anyone tried to get a deal into a non LOS city and then take a cheap discount airline to LOS?

I wonder if it is worth the time or effort. But.. since I have to switch planes anyway (Japan for NWA and Tapaie for EVA)... what the heck. Maby this will save some money and get me there about the same time? Any thoughts?

You should be able to find a good deal via www.airasia.com from SIN to BKK. I was checking for travel dates in May and rates are like USD125 roundtrip from Singapore to Bangkok. Other discount airlines are http://www.tigerairways.com and http://www.jetstarasia.com.

I have flown NW from Philly to S'pore a few years ago when they offered R/T for $388USD including taxes. NW and UA get in late and you have to overnight at the airport to catch an early flight. I stayed at the airport hotel. Reasonable rates. It was OK to do but it eats up a lot of time. I like S'pore as a destination and have been there a few times. If I were to do this again, I'd go to Bintin Island, Indonesia for a few days. I heard it's a fun place to go.

Bintin isle use to be good but its now a question of safety. Alot of muggings and robbery there the last time I was there so be very careful as this was happening during the DAY and not some dark alley at nite. Also, being a mostly Muslim population they are not very keen on Americans right now so best not to advertise that U are from USA.

also Sing. people are exempt from an Indonesian entry fee but Americans are not. :clap1
