Hi all, visting pattaya for first time ever this month (and i visit bangkok every month, shame on me!). Have read someplaces that the Mercure Hotel is OK, and perfectly girlfriendly. Can anyone confirm this? Be good to stay there as easier to get passed on my expenses than the vault! ha. Thanks for the help

hi ya, welcome to the board! the hotel is guest friendly but it is out of the way on some darkened street, off soi 15, 2nd road. there are other hotels similarly priced & better located ie lek hotel, sandy spring, dynasty inn etc. read the hotel reviews section & it will give you a better idea. if you need any more info, ask away. there are some very informative members but beware of a few (i won't mention their names at the moment) :clueless

hey floyd,

when I was there the wifi was not free. In fact it was outrageously expensive. Something like 300 baht for 1 hour. 1000 baht for 1 day. The wifi didn't work half of the time. It was a real pain. I have stayed in both the queen room and the queen delux. The delux cost more money and I thought it was the same room with a lousey view. The rooms are decent with good beds and well decorated. Bathrroms are small.

If you are a soffitel member they won't honor any of the cards. Go figure. Staff was idiots and service was poor on the good days. I talked to the maqnager several times to get problems straighten out. He apologized and claim staff was impossible to train.

They have a shuttle that goes to second street. the problem is not the distance. The street is maybe 6 meters wide, there are walls along a long stretch of it, and there are frequently cars going in both directions. Not much room left for pedestrians. :hairout :D
